oil pan and motor mounts.

Hey guys, having a hard time finding a 4th Gen oil pan and I was told that a ctsv pan would work. I just wanted to clarify if it would fit. If so the said yrs of the ctsv?

Also I plan on using the mounts from summit. Part # TRD-4572. Thanks guys. Really itching to get this beast dropped in

Re: oil pan and motor mounts.

The CTS-V pan hangs lower than Fbody by about an inch. I would avoid it

If you have a tubular K-member any C6 pan will work. The C5 batwing will clear some tubular K-members

There really isnt an inexpensive off-the-shelf pan kit. If you have a dealer hook up, the Fbody stuff at-cost is about $250

The mounts listed are for a standard SBC conversion which is a misnomer. 1" setback plates put the bellhousing flange in the same location as stock so the stock DS can be retained for most common trans choices. Hopefully you will not be using the 700R4

You want something that looks like this:

Yep those are the mounts from summit. As far as the pan goes I've been trying to get used and have seen the ctsv pan but I'll just wait for the fbody one. As always pocket thanks for the info!

Re: oil pan and motor mounts.

I am running a new Fbody pan (price matched on summit for $198.50, then the pickup/windage) I price matched superchevyperformance.com's price) And I am running Spohn mounts with 4th gen Poly engine side mounts. Seems to fit well despite all the issues I have read about. The Drop in the pan comes really close to the K-member though.

And these but with POLY inserts. I will eventually go solid if the motor moves too much. I got them for dirt cheap though

Re: oil pan and motor mounts.

BTW I used those adapter mounts before and they were garbage in my experience with solid mounts. I had to grind the hell out of the back of the stock clam shells so they would fit flat, then I had to slot the holes since you are moving the mounts away from the block 1/2" so it actually makes the bolt pattern wider.

I ended up assembling the mounts/adapters/K-memeber mounts all to the motor then welded them to the K-memeber.

However lots seem to have success with them. Maybe the ones I got wern't as good. They were somewhat never at the time.

Re: oil pan and motor mounts.

That's good to know, I think I'm going to try them out since there's more people with success than failure. Atm I plan on focusing on getting it in and playing with it. I think ultimately I will be going with a tubular k member. Who knows hopefully I'll have better luck. But I know who I'm calling when I need help haha

I used Spohn mounts with 4th gen clamshells on my first 3rd gen LS swap, and had all sorts of trouble getting them to line up. Solution? Think "big pry bar".

Used the adapter plates (no offset) on the second 3rd gen LS swap, and ended up opening up one clamshell hole to get the bolt to go through.

I used adapter plates (with 1" setback) on the '57 LS swap (which already had 3/4" to the forward side mounts installed), and they lined right up.

So, I'm more inclined to blame the 3rd gens than I am the adapter plates.
