Getting the Ls1 fuel gauge to work
I'm trying to finish up my Ls1 swap into my thirdgen and I decided to go with the ls1 Camaro gauge cluster and I can't get the fuel gauge to work. I read up something about a resistor but they're all using 4th gen tanks. My question is would I need to change over to a 4th gen tank or can I make the Fuel gauge work with my Thirdgen tank? If there is already a thread on how to do it please post the Link
Thanks,
Ben

As in pass smog/ inspection? I haven't figured it out yet. There's always someone out here in LA that knows a guy who can get my car to pass.
Re: Getting the Ls1 fuel gauge to work
Find a sender with a resistance sweep that matches the gauge and stick it in. IMHO, its easier to use a LS1 plastic tank, esp in cali
Look on the bright side: never rust, has the parts you need, fuel bucket is superior during cornering, correct fuel pump already installed, correct sender, removable neck makes tank swaps easy

"...someone who knows a guy who..." is a pretty shortsighted way to operate. Might get you by for one test cycle, but how about next time when that "guy" has been put out of business?
The 4th gen LS tank is the right way to go. It will have what you need to pass emissions properly.

Re: Getting the Ls1 fuel gauge to work
I went with the 4th gen tank, they can be had so cheaply there is no reason not to. On my firebird I even modded the factory 3rd gen gauge to work with the factory 4th gen sender.

Can something like this bolt on to the ls1 fuel bucket?
Will this work for a thirdgen gauge?

Re: Getting the Ls1 fuel gauge to work
Sorry I haven't been as active here lately, I've been working on a HEMI project along with reviving a 4th gen Camaro that was hit by a drunk. However, using a stock fuel gauge with modified resistors and an unmodified 4th gen fuel tank is still the easiest and cleanest way to swap to a LS fuel system.
I haven't yet modified a 3rd gen Camaro gauge, though I'm sure one day when I come across a good roller, I'll have to give it a go. The Firebird gauge is amazingly easy to modify though, and I imagine the Camaro is very similar.
Link for that mod is here: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/ltx-...auge-40-a.html
