LQ9 swap need help!
I am planning on swapping the LQ9 engine out of a 2000's escalade. I was wondering if it was possible if I changed the pulley system, oil pan, and exhaust to fit the car. I know the intake does not fit under the hood but I have a scrap hood I can modify to fit the intake.
My question is would I be able to throw it in and run it with those modifications or would I have to change other things to make it work.
(p.s. I am planning on putting l92 heads, a comp cam, and a ls2 intake and rails when I get the money)

Pulley system: If you modify the hood for the intake, you'll also need to modify it to clear the alternator. Otherwise, no problem with the accessory drive system (well, except for the AC compressor hitting the 3rd gen K-member - but that happens with other LS systems, too).
Oil pan: You don't need to change the oil pan to fit the engine in the car, but it will hang pretty low.
Exhaust: The truck manifolds tend to stick out more than the passenger car manifolds, and will probably hit the frame rails. The rest of the truck exhaust is probably worthless under a 3rd gen.
By the way, an LS2 intake doesn't fit on L92 heads. An LS3 intake will, though.

Re: LQ9 swap need help!
I knew about needing to modify the k member by notching a spot for the a/c compressor. And I knew that there was something with relocating the alternator for it to fit under the stock hood.
How low does it hang? does it cause significant clearance problems?
I know the truck manifolds and exhaust wouldn't work I would replace that.
And sorry I was meaning the ls3 intake! lol

It hangs low enough that any bump in the road you hit wrong will cause you some serious head and wallet aches...
2 things you can do for it... one is cheaper, but you have to know a good aluminum welder.
1. Get someone (or yourself, if you have the tools and skills) to measure and cut the pan down, as well as the pickup tube. Potentially cheaper, more work involved. Several members here have it documented in their build threads.
2. Buy the kit. Particularly, this one: https://www.superchevyperformance.co...tCode=12628771
Everything all at once comes out to $274, I believe. It's the route I'm going, even though I know an amazing aluminum welder.

I think I would rather go that route and spend a little extra in that area!
But I am kind of confused about five7Kid comment about the pully system is he meaning the truck style would not need to be changed?

Re: LQ9 swap need help!
It's entirely dependent on what you plan to do. Keeping the truck intake? Then you can keep the water pump, P/S pump and brackets. But, you will either have to modify the alternator part of the bracket or move the alternator entirely because it actually sits a little higher than the intake, hence why he said you'll have to clear the hood. It'll save you some money if you go that route.
I went a different route. Picked up an LS6 intake, swapped over to F-body accessories and am completely avoiding the height issue. Cost more, but easier.

Keeping the truck intake and everything would obviously be a temporary deal so it lessen the cost up front.
I would change over and run the l92 heads with the ls3 or 6 intake depending on what one I can get a better deal on and I have looked for the fbody accessories and I am having trouble finding them where did you get yours at?

LS3 intake and LS6 intake are different ports.
I got all of my actual accessories from O'reilly, but that was because a guy there owed me money so I got them on a significant discount. I went with the 02 Z28 alt/power steering and got the 04 4.8 starter to match my block. Picked up the brackets from Ebay. Went with stock style for the alternator and a similar P/S bracket. No way I was shelling out over $200 for the "all-in-one" brackets DirtyDingo and the like want... ridiculous.. I spent less than $100 for the stock-style brackets.

I am a student in the Automotive Technology program at my college and I am able to get a 20% discount at all auto parts stores round here so that will help with obtaining parts a little cheaper!
