Re: my fubared 88

whats the casting of the block was it an LT1 block (1992-1997), or a chevy small block. On LT1's are reverse cooled, the regular SBC, isn't.

You can't. Not at your skill level. And we can't help you do this type of swap over a car forum.

The easiest method is to yank the LT1 shortblock out, sell it to some guy with a 4th gen.

Put a SBC Shortblock back in the car from an 87+ car. Then everything you have from YOUR car will bolt right up no problems.

Re: my fubared 88

There are tons of resources for doing this. I wouldn't just give up so quickly, but I would make sure to have tons of time to experiment and make sure you hook up everything correctly. Firstly, you need to figure out exactly what you have. From what I understand, if you've got a lt1 block, the L98 (motor i'm assuming) heads and intake won't fit on an LT1, or they at least won't work. The LT1 block is setup for reverse cooling, while the L98 heads and intake are not.

Re: my fubared 88

Can you even tell us what you have for sure? Is it an LT1 gen II small block or is it a 1995 gen I small block from a truck, van, suv?

If it's an LT1, I think you are way in over your head.

If LT1 then why go backwards and install poor flowing out dated L98 heads, and intake??

If LT1, yank the mess out. Pull heads/intake off. Sell the short block, buy a used gen 1 short block, put your heads on it and be done with it.

Cant tell if messing with us or seriously asking.

If this person put the heads and intake on then he probably has some ability, but this is a mess. Listen guy, we need more information than this. You cant just leave people hanging on a cliffhanger. Take more than just a few seconds and explain yourself so that we can help you.

Re: my fubared 88

Ok kevin, i looked at your other posts and you seem to have an issue here. I thought that the l98 heads and intake wouldnt even fit an lt1, but if youve managed that, thats pretty funny. My advice, what the other guy said. Pull the lt1 block and stick the old one back in there. If i was you, and i was still interested in the lt1, get an engine stand and stick the lt1 you have on it, and slowly work your way to building the full motor. The lt1 needs its correct heads and intake, thats why you have oil going everywhere its not supposed to. Good luck, and chime back in. If hate to see someone stuck out on a limb, and to most of these guys this seems like a stupid question but they forget how easy it is for soneone who doeant know what they do to enc up in this situation.

Re: my fubared 88

I'm so confused. What do you mean you're "putting it all back to the lti"? Whatever you do you're going to need a single complete motor, or know how to grind, mill, and fabricate some seriously complex parts.

Please, in decent english, explain exactly what you've currently got going on, what your goal is and we will do everything we can to help you.
