LT1 into 83 Camaro Headers ?????

We have a 95 LT1 with aluminum "D" port heads and it's going into a 83 Camaro. It seems confusing to find out what headers will fit without going completely custom. Most of the header threads are too old. We'd like to go with long tubes but shorties will do if we can find a "Y" pipe. Any suggestions????

Hedman 68469- long tubes
Hedman 68479- shorties
Hedman 17478- y pipe for shorties

You will have to weld o2 bungs on either option.

This photo is for Dyno Don:

I'm just making sure his headers fit my LT1 aluminum "D" port heads. Yes they will bolt up, but I'm just making sure the outside (#2,1,7, and 8) ports are not too different.

Re: LT1 into 83 Camaro Headers ?????

The best header design is one that has the opening larger than the port in the head.

This way it will stop any reversion back into the cylinder.

The 29DA3Berl gasket fits the header flange perfect and the LT1 head also.

Re: LT1 into 83 Camaro Headers ?????

For anyone reading along, the Hedman 48469 is the D port version of the 48460 (still made). Bummer is the 48469 is no longer made.

However Hedman makes the D port shorty headers 48479 so that means that still have the flanges avail for the D port. I contacted them about making another set. Maybe we should ask for a limited run of them?
