Anybody fit tall valve covers with AC?

Anybody get tall valve covers to fit with the AC box and wiper motor? Were you able to keep the coils mounted to the valve covers? Pictures????

What valve covers are you running? I'm going to run the Holley tall ones and "hope" I clear the wiper motor. AC box has been deleted with vintage air setup. Do you have any play in your motor mounts to slide everything forward?

Re: Anybody fit tall valve covers with AC?

I have stock LS3 valve covers in the car right now. Probably going to need tall valve covers with the next engine that I'm prepping for the car.

I would be surprised if the Holley covers didn't cause coils to clash with the AC box. Plus you lose the bracket that holds the coil wire harness and that's just another PIA inconvenience for me because my car is already LS swapped and I want to change as little as possible.

I was looking at the Katech valve covers with their relocated coil brackets, but they price it like it is made of solid gold.

Which rocker arms are you running? If you are close and just need a bit more clearance you could run the taller gasket. What about proforms relocation kit

I have 1.8 Yella Terra rockers made for Mamo Motorsports. The YT spacer gasket isn't tall enough.

I have the same rockers and went through the same issues. The tall Holley cast worked for me and appear to have enough clearance. In the engine bay is tbd for me.

Re: Anybody fit tall valve covers with AC?

I just looked at my car. No problem clearing the wiper motor. Does not look promising at the AC box. Maybe could be fixed if I paid a Marine shop to reshape the fiberglass AC box. But it's just another big hassle. All I wanted to do was take out my old engine and drop in the new in 1 day. This is turning out to be a real PIA.

Did you consider valve cover spacers? I see ICT makes a 0.75" billet spacer for $110.

Nevermind. I just checked and I don't have that much room to work with. Suck a duck.

Do you have any pics of the interference?

Re: Anybody fit tall valve covers with AC?

The further toward the firewall the tighter things get to the AC box. Not enough room to grow height of valve cover. Holley probably won't fit.

Need a cover that tapers down to stock height on the outboard side (exhaust side). The Katech valve cover might have promise, coupled with the Katech coil relocation bracket. But it is stupid expensive.

I might have to cash out on this engine anyway. Family stuff might require a change of focus where money goes.

Re: Anybody fit tall valve covers with AC?

I just measured and found that the LS7 TFS heads are 1/4" taller off the deck than my LS3 heads. There is no way taller valve covers are going to fit now. Not with where the engine is sitting right now anyway.

Get the fiberglass out and modify the A/C box.
