Aside from body pieces and such, mostly from the rear control arms back is similar however the rear is a bit wider which will require the use of the wheels as well, then you would need spacers for front. Seats will swap out no problems. Drivetrain of course will swap but not without the associated parts and mods required. I’m sure there’s lots of other little things. Some people have swapped whole interiors but to me that seems like some work lol
Re: Third gen fourth gen swap
Good information . I was thinking about doing the rear but do not want to take away from stock appearance of my iroc , so that will not be changed ... what about the computer clutch brake pedal etc ?

At very least the rear end has some value and could be resold. Or depending what rear you have in your 89 you could upgrade the limited slip from the newer car. Computer and harness will need to come out with the engine and then need adapted to the 89. I’m sure there’s plenty of info out there of which I don’t have on that. Clutch and brake pedals will work, you’ll want all the associated hardware for that as well. Another popular mod is using the 4th gen coolant overflow tank as well. I myself think this is a neat mod for a swap like this

As mentioned, you can use almost everything drivetrain related. You will not be able to reuse the stock exhaust manifolds and you will need to purchase new engine mounts and trans crossmember. You can use all of the clutch components as well. Also, the brakes.
