Ls swap wiring questions
Ls swap wiring questions
So I have a 1987 Camaro RS 5 speed that I’m in the process of swapping in a 5.3 out of a ‘02 Silverado (DBC). Now I should disclose this is the first time undertaking something like this and it’s all pretty new to me. Im on the stage of wiring and Im leaning towards buying a Holley terminator since the original LS harness was hacked up and I don’t have the time or knowledge to make my own so I wanted the most plug and play option available.
But no matter how many forums I read or videos I watch I can’t find answers to two questions
1. how to you make sure the oem dash, lights, vss, etc work
2. What are the two larger connectors on the driver side firewall for ( one goes into the main engine loom, and the other I believe does the master cylinder cruise control and I presume headlight
Thanks in advance

The c100 connector has 2 plugs, one will be the light harness, and the other will be the engine harness and power for the car. There are certain wires you will need to keep and other you can de pin and get rid of.

Re: Ls swap wiring questions
I cheated, I sent my camaro harness to Speartech in IN. He sent back a plug and play harness that intergrated the camaro with the gen iv ls and the 6l80 trans.

Yes I sent him my stock camao harness and he rewoked it to be plug and play with a geniv LS and a 6l80 trans. Fans and charcoal can and every thing else just plugged in. I needed to manualy do 2 or 3 wires under the dash for things like the speedo.
Re: Ls swap wiring questions
I called them up and it turns out they stopped doing that a few years ago sadly

Some are simple like CTS, Oil, etc. Hook up the proper sender the the new engine and ignore the holley system
Some require nothing like dash lights, volt gauge fuel etc
Others, hook to the holley output like tach
Speedo will be the biggest hurdle being mechanical. You can swap to electric gauges, use a cable driver box or simply ignore it
Some things like check engine light will be inop with the holley system. You'll have to understand how to ID a sensor fail state by looking at holley logs. Usually a wonky AFR read is the first clue
2) That's the C100
The lights half, do nothing
The engine half needs some work. In the LS swap sticky, I wrote a thread how to trim down the original harness to barebones only what you need. 3rd gen harness prep
