Anyone done a 6L80 and LS swap? I need advice
So I’ve almost got the car done minus putting the interior back in and getting a driveshaft made. My question is to anyone that’s done this swap help me out on what shifter linkage/or modified shifter cable linkage they used? Thanks

I used the stock shifter. I attatched it very much like it was on the 700r4 . I drilled a new hole and made some small adjustments so tha park was in the correct place. I then had my daughter use her Cricket to make a indicator plastic strip to show only PRNDM . I used a toogle switch from Speartech for manual shifting mounted to the right of the steering column. I will pm you my Ph number.

The best advice that I can offer is to purchase a New 6L80E with a warranty.
We (GM Power-Train) designed the 6L80E and 6L90E Transmissions to only last about 100,000 Miles under the best of conditions.
In addition, we designed them to be more expensive to Repair and Rebuild a Used Transmission, than the cost of a New Transmission.
These Transmissions were one of our earliest plans to push Customers into purchasing new Vehicles instead of Servicing and Repairing Vehicles.
GM wants their Customers to be purchasing (or more realistically Leasing) a new Vehicle every 3 Years.
They do NOT want their Customers to keep their Vehicles any longer by doing Service and Repairs.
I know these Transmissions to a ridiculous extent.
They were a Joint-Project with ZF Transmissions, and Ford.
The Original Design was done by ZF... Ford decided to simply have a Bell-Housing designed to mate to Ford Engines.
GM However redesigned roughly 33% of the Transmission, and made it substantially worse than the Original Design.
(Mostly for cost cutting reasons).
Whatever you do, DO NOT USE A STOCK/ GM TORQUE-CONVERTER!
The Lock-Up Clutch often fails and fills the Transmission with Clutch Debris (Destroying the Transmission).
Purchase a name Brand Aftermarket Billet-Half (or full Billet Housing) Torque-Converter.

There many 6l80's getting very high miles . My 13 corvette has 170,000 miles on it . My 2007 Sierra Denali has 232,000 miles on it . Niether of them have been opened up except for fluid and filter changes. The corvette gets driven pretty hard and the denali tows , both still work amazingly well.

Some have absolutely lasted with Fluid changes...
But its not the norm.
Most fail.

I know this is off topic from the OP's question, but is it possible to adapt the Ford trans to the LS engine as an upgrade?

If someone could make adapters for the Bell-Housings...
And also get the Ford TCM to work with a GM ECM (ZF and Ford do not use the same Internal TEHCM as GM did).

Oh, so the TCM is proprietary to Chevy.... I was hoping it was common to the trans but I guess not.

Thanks kestell123, I’ll be getting in touch with you soon. Replying to the other guys on the 6L80, this is the first one I’ve dealt with but I do know it’s been pretty stout for the 3 years we had the car until my son wrecked it (2011Camaro SS) December of 21 and I bought the car back from the insurance company just for the engine and transmission, I got a decent deal and immediately started the project. Like I said everything is in and mounted up and running. Just a few more kinks I’ve got to workout. Thanks guys
