LTX and LSXPutting LT1s, LS1s, and their variants into Third Gens is becoming more popular. This board is for those who are doing and have done the swaps so they can discuss all of their technical aspects including repairs, swap info, and performance upgrades.
Short version is I bought a 1991 Base Firebird with the V-6 and 700R4 with plans to LS swap it.
Unfortunately the deeper I dug into it, the more rust I found.
I found a good deal on a 1988 Formula Firebird roller with no interior and less rust. The 88 became the project car and the 91 became a parts/donor car.
The plan is to build an iron block 6.0 with 5364 rec port heads and LS3 intake backed by a T-56 Magnum F to a Strange S60 rear end. I may go with a turbo or Procharger as well.
I've spent the last few days drilling out spot welds. I removed the seat mounts from the donor car as they were cut up in the project car. The project car was being converted into a racecar before I bought it, so the seat braces were cut up for subframe connectors.
Now would be a perfect time to weld in some DSE sub frame connectors. You should really consider it given how much work you're doing to the floor.
I already have inner and outer subframe connectors welded in. I was only going to patch the floors when I originally installed them. Unfortunately, between the number of patches the old floors needed, how thin the metal was in the transmission tunnel was, and the great deal I got on a set of floor pans, I now have to work around the subframe connectors as I replace the floors. Hopefully they will help at least keep the chassis straight as I work, lol.

Good to hear. You may want to tack in some crossbraces before cutting any more. These things are so flimsy.
I finished the necessary cutting and grinding and was able to test fit the passenger side floor pan today. I had to run to the hardware store for a new hose for the sandblaster, the old one was dry rotted. Next will be a lot of cleaning, welding, and painting.
I've been really busy lately and haven't had a lot of time to work on projects. My pole barn is neither insulated nor heated, so my work is greatly weather dependent. It's been uncharacteristically warm the last few days, so I did some more welding on the passenger side floor pan. I'm not going to post any pictures of my crappy welds, but I will post this. Got a good deal with on a low mileage P-1SC-1 procharger.
