Don't quit your day job.

Just kidding of course, but cars belong on the road. Looks out of place on the grass.

Here's a quick adjustment of colors:

Re: new "scenery" pics..advice?

if you pop the dent in your quarter panel out, they'll all look better. I like the 3rd one down the best though.

In the last set of pics, the stripes and the island are both big no-nos, as far as professional photography. They'd never have made it into a magazine.

Re: new "scenery" pics..advice?

On the first set of pics...

In the first pic, the lighting is wrong. The side facing the facing, needs more light. The passenger side would have been a better choice, so as not to show the dent. And, turning the tires TOWARDS the camera...not TOO far, as to lose the rim, but just right, is better for publication.

The other pics have proper lighting, as far as what a magazine level shot looks for to publish.

2nd pic is perfect really.

3rd pic looks a tad overexposed, but editing could fix that through Photoshop for publication. The roof line to the cross street in the background, could use better alignment, as far as not "welding" the roof to the road.

4th pic....Other than the line on the road, AWESOME shot. That one could easily be cropped, to lose the pavement line.

Now, I wasn't trying to criticize either of ya'll pics. Just giving some advice!

Re: new "scenery" pics..advice?

i personally think they are overexposed and your ISO setting is too high and you should use a tripod. nice color though, my car used to be that color

Re: new "scenery" pics..advice?

Some nice shots in there for sure but I never liked grass pictures. Also try to keep the whole car in the pic rather than cutting parts of it off (2nd pic). You can get away with doing this if say your just pointing down one side of the car parallel.

Here's an example of my old car even though I did kinda cut it off a bit on the top and bottom lol..

Re: new "scenery" pics..advice?

Oh yeah...On the grass shot.

Grass sticking up over the rear bumper.
Grass standing up over the rear of the tire.
No-no's...Could easily have trimmed the grass with scissors. Look through the viewer, correct the mistakes, then snap the pic.

Utility pole in the pic. Bad photographer, bad photographer! LOL

A little over exposed too. But unless you are using a film camera, you'd hafta be using a good digital, not a regular store bought, you just pick up anywhere.

But overall not a BAD shot. Nothing the Art Department couldn't fix!

Re: new "scenery" pics..advice?

The first shots aren't very good. However the last pic is great! Avoid taking pics with poles in the background, because they go against your car. You want horizontal lines, to go with the flow, know what I mean. Also avoid taking pics of the drivers side, as to not show that mean dent you have :/ The first pic isn't bad though either. Usually if you take like 100 pics, only a few will turn out really good.

Re: new "scenery" pics..advice?

You picked a good time to make this post. I'm in the process of experimenting with pics at a certain location right near my house. Getting the right lighting makes all the difference in your shots. Try to get your pics when the sun is real low, like at sunrise or sunset. These pics I took are at sunset, and that made these pics really come alive. I've got a million other problems in these pics that I need to address, but you can see just what the right light can do.

Next time I take pictures here, I'm going to have somebody hold some reflectors so I can face the cars the opposite way and still get light onto the front of the cars. I need to get creative so that the headstones and power lines aren't in the pics... though they can be easily photoshopped out. I also need to park the car properly (the IROC is positioned in a way that makes the front wheels look like they're tipping), and get all of the dirt off my tires. I also need to darken all the stuff that's under the car so that your eye doesn't get drawn to it.

If you can find a spot that looks good, keep experimenting at the same spot so that you have one less variable. Try dawn, try dusk, try overcast days, etc.

Not such a good angle and or paint job next year it's gonna be gloss black but here is one of mine in the woods
But a tip I think your pics are a little to much like in the middle of the road and in the grass If you want a good pic go take one by the lake or find a big puddle and park in the middle that would look good.

Re: new "scenery" pics..advice?

angle and background are big players, also make sure to not have stupid mistakes, such as shadow of yourself in the photos, trash, or other things that will make the photo look odd or not high quality. out of the photos the OP posted, the only one i liked honestly is the last one, with the moss. If you had took that on a nice sunny day,the colors may have popped a bit more.. Here are 2 examples of my photography of my car, the first is showing how angle makes it or breaks it.. to me the angle of this first one is killer.

and here's one for scenery.. A nice background :

If you don't mind the criticism... the angle in the first pic is great, but not at that location. That angle in that location gives some lousy reflections along the side of the car that breaks up the body lines and detracts from the color of the car. A polarizer may help, but what I think would be even better would be to have a couple people hold up a black blanket to the photographer's left of the car, so that instead of all that yellow crap in the reflection, you get a nice smooth reflection that coincides with the body line, and just shows off the purple paint.

Although I'm not really 100% in love with the location that I took my pics, what I do love is the complete lack of reflection I got along the whole side of the car. In this pic, all you see is a nice crisp body line and mile deep paint:

While that pic has a million imperfections, what I really love about it is the crisp body line. This is what the right angle at sunset can get you, regardless of where you take the shot. If you scroll back up to my other pics, you can see that just by shooting a little higher, while still showing a nice reflection, it doesn't perfectly follow the body line like this one did.
