A few "different" pictures
Went to a show Saturday. I drove the TA and dad drove the Z28. Thought I would snap a few pictures of it going down the road. I never had any pictures of it going down the road with the 20's....and they look pretty good. Didn't realize how much of a "rake" it gave the car. But now that Truck Bash is over with, the car should be gong in very soon for the air ride. The computer and control unit is mounted, I also rolled the rear lips...so I can go as low as possible in the rear.

Like the car but not he 20's---too big, IMO. But hey I am old school---17's, maybe 18's is big enough for me!
I like the ones in your sig--what size were they?

Re: A few "different" pictures
guess I'm one for bigger wheels
The old TTII's were 17's. I'm not really into old school much anymore...not saying that 17's are old school, but the whole "crager, TTII" look I'm over. The wheels probably won't look as big when I get the air ride installed, that way I can adjust it to any ride height i want.
The fender vents are from an 80-81 Z28...I'll probably end up ditching them and going back to the factory look. They kind of break the lines of the car up.

Car looks good, but I would have to agree with the others that 20's is just too much. It does give the car a raked look. Thus, are you adding the air ride to try and fix the rake? Would you be able to actually lower the rear end that much that it would not affect your driveability?
What is the main advantage of Air Ride? It seems to me that it's just used to slam the car while it is parked. Many times I will see cars with wheels tucking while parked. Although it looks awesome like this, the guy raises the car to stock height when driving, so the coolness factor is gone...it just looks like any other car without a special stance.

Re: A few "different" pictures
Air Ride is suppose to give a very comfortable ride and excellent drivability. Im gonna test it myself soon enough I guess. It also gives you the ability to go over street bumps and avoid scrapping the front lip when going down/up of steep spots.

Re: A few "different" pictures
there was actually a special on speed TV about air ride suspension. It's not only for looks, but the driveability is amzaing compared to springs/struts. I will be able to go as low as I decide

Re: A few "different" pictures
looks good. I personally don't care for big wheels, but that is the best I have seen them look on a car. I love air ride, after driving a car with a good setup, and then going back to the steel stuff it's almost night and day, a friend of mine says it's like going from a z06 to an escort

Re: A few "different" pictures
I personally will reserve judgement until I have a chance to drive a bagged thirdgen. While those airride suspensions may allow a 60's hotrod to handle better than the stock suspension, I'm not convinced that it'll outhandle a stock IROC suspension, or certainly not a well modified one. The big problem with those bags is that they don't offer a high spring rate unless they're fully aired up, so you can't have a lowered stance and a high spring rate like you get on a stock thirdgen with lowering springs. Good handling is usually a combination of numerous factors, with two of them being high spring rate and low CG.

Re: A few "different" pictures
You have to be smart when adjusting the air ride suspension. Some idiot I used to know jacked up the rear end of his Chevelle real high because he thought it looked "cool" and "oldschool" and he wondered why he would get massive wheelhop all the time.

Re: A few "different" pictures
car looks sweet bro, thought i'd chime in on the airride discussion since i've been bagged for 2 seasons now....my car handled great before, very little roll, somewhat harsh but not bad, then i installed the airride, what little roll the car had was gone, very confident and at my ride height extremely smooth yest very stiff at the same time, now lately our roads have gone to hell bad so i've been riding higher than usual, with is about stock thirdgen ride height as my regular height equates to about a 2" drop, its a more harsh ride that way but i have alot of money and time in body work i dont need trashed....
anyone in the colorado area is welcome to come take a ride in my slammed RS, i have yet to have anyone go wow i dont like it, i have taken guys for rides who have they're cars setup for road racing and go around the block in the rs and go man thats crazy and its smooth....airride technologies has put time and alot of design into these systems and it shows, i knwo you guys wont take my word for it but after running different combos in this car and my bird i can honestly say i will never build another street car again without and airride suspension!!!!, my dad is old school and basically goes against everything i do, he drove the rs before i did it and took it out after the airride and he is trying to find a way to budget a system in for his 81Z

Paul where is my ride buddy!! You never offer that up when I'm around. HAHA! Probably cause we are both sunburned so bad from sitting around at shows all day. Seriously I do want to ride in you car for a good feeling on suspension, and to see how well that new motor combo runs.
Later man!!

Re: A few "different" pictures
I've been trying to decide on a color to paint my car. After looking at yours, I may have to stay with black. Man, your ride looks sweet. I like the 81 fender louvers, I have never seen them on a 3rd gen before. Looking Good.

Re: A few "different" pictures
not crazy about the size, but the irocs are an upgrade over TT2's just about any day of the week, especially a 91-92 Z.
Good luck with the air ride! the chopped up s10s on bags in my area have left a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth, but i couldn't see you dragging your bumper 10 feet along the asphalt pulling into a parking spot.
sick camaro as usual. the in-action pics look awesome!

While I'm not big on the 20' rims, I love the rest of the car. I love the black third gens... That's what I originally wanted, but I couldn't find one that was nice enough.
