Flames are easy...89RS
Well, i just did it, i cut out the shadow i wanted, wasnt pickey i just cut it out. From there, i simply used a BS 96 cent can of paint, so for half assing it i would hate to see what i can do with real equipment, all i have is a gravity feed matco paint gun i used for the body for now.
LMK what you guys think?
The pattern

For half-assin' it, that came out pretty damn good. Should have at least made the flame template a little more flame like but regardless, that looks good.

Re: Flames are easy...89RS
for a first attempt it looks alright, but laying out some real flame shapes with pinstriping and then shadowing with a template would have been over the top. this looks more like raindrops that were painted around them.

Re: Flames are easy...89RS
Not bad, just too uniform in size, to me. Maybe if you cut a larger pattern piece, so you could turn it for different sizes and curves, then you could mix it up good.
But not a bad job!

Re: Flames are easy...89RS
kinda reminded me of ghost flames kinda with it behing a smoky white on the black hood.
i think it looks not to bad
i think sould get a sheet of plywood or a big piece of cardboard and try out different pattern and try it out on the cardboard to see if its what you like or not.
just a thought

Check out the internet for airbrush flame templates, just copy there design and i think it would turn out really good, i think the way it looks right now is too "patterned" and uniform kinda looks weird.

Re: Flames are easy...89RS
maybe get afew patterns going. so it all will look totally different so they all dont look the same.
i guess you can always draw out the flames on the hood with a marker and tape everything around it and what not. but i dont have a steady hand and im not an artist so i cant do that
ill take a look at some air brush patterns.

Re: Flames are easy...89RS
that is an AWFUL lot of detail on that gas can, haha. Looks great though, ive got the standard "green" color camaro for the RS, but i had surface rust on it when i got it, so i sanded her down and now its primer gray! sexy innit ^ ^
big plans ahead though!
