Yep Engine bay is being painted low gloss black to make the block stand out

Ive painted some peices where i had to lift up parts to paint under it. Ill do all my motor fitting and do the final painting after ive had the motor running and everything.

Oh and a quick extra note, Ive ordered the fuel rails i need + Fuel rail covers to make up for the not so prettyness of the truck harness and the LS1 intake. And ive also grabbed an LS1 Plastic fuel tank which ill modify to fit in

Edit: Heres a progress picture of the engine bay:

Like i said, ill take off the nose and completely paint it once i get the motor worked out, so i dont damage it taking the motor in and out

Admittingly it isnt the nicest 4th gen dash avaliable, but i got a good price on it and its a hell of alot nicer then the stock brick dash.

Re: Winter Progress

i wasnt saying the quality of yours is bad. i just dont like the design. I love the 3rd gen interior, i think it totally fits the car and looks a hell of a lot better than the mustang of similar year

Got'Cha.

To each their own i guess

Figure ill post up some verbal updates.

Ive got an LS1 intake now, along with injectors, and ill be borrowing fuel rails from father. I also got a new rear diff, wheels and tank.

Ill be putting in a Plastic LS1 Gas tank + Corvette Fuel reg/Filter assembly, so ill post up info in regards to that.

The rear differential is a LS1 unit with 3.73 Richmond gears, and LS1 rear brakes (Which will accompany the full LS1 brake system on my car). The rear rotors are Brembo's w/ Hawk pad's.

Ive ordered my adaptors and im doing machining work on my second hub at school.

Ive got a 4L60e tranny now, so i will be picking up a Convertor Pilot spacer when im in Atlanta @ summit.

Ive got new mount plates machined, that fit perfect, that will be my trial brackets as the final ones will be made of steel. The engine will be mounted in with my 4L60e to make sure they all work out with the cross member, then ill pull it all out to paint the engine bay.

Im panning to have the car sitting on stands with no suspension/drivetrain/fuel system this weekend.

So, that being said, heres my to-do list:

Cross member modifications
LS1 Fuel sender mod
Fuel Filler neck mod's
Run fuel lines to Corvette Filter.
Remove thirdgen return fuel line
Intstall Rear differential & hook up brakes
Install motor + Tranny, then wire up
Setup cooling system
Fabricate Y-pipe
Ensure all wiring is good and crank over (may start? )
Finalize wiring
Install Driveshaft
Install front LS1 brake system
Install wheel spacers
Install new wheels
Wire up OBD2 Connector
Re-wire 4th gen cluster
Finish A-pillars

Hooray

Still need to buy/arrive:
LS1 brake adaptors
Truck Electronic Pedals + Peices
F-body Oil Pan & Setup
Corvette Fuel Filter/Reg
Wheel Adaptors
Metal for exhaust

Probably more. Ill post up pictures as i get further

That's a really nice build you have coming along there. I wish I could do that at this age but I just don't have the cash flow to do so. Major props to you buddy. Keep up the nice work.

Re: Winter Progress

Well, i got some more work done on the car today.
Did a mockup of the engine + tranny. First thing we found is that the truck manifold's run into the frame rail's so im going to have to do something about that.
Here are some mockup pictures:

Mount adaptor plates that i fabbed up:

Got some Brembo Rotors + HAWK pad's for the LS1 rear:

Yes, your correct. They do make them, however, they cost $800.

Im only 17 and thats a little out of my budget, as ill barely be able to afford this swap as is.

Re: Winter Progress

Very nice, sometimes i wish i stayed FI and went to LSX...but for now im good. They make some great power and can still be daily driven with decent mpg. At least you got paint on your car, i didn't have enough funds for that this winter. Keep us updated, good luck!

I would have kept the engine bay red, looks better imo.
