Can you post any details to the sizes of those stainless allen bolts you used on your intake?

Re: 1989 Camaro - "The Project" Begins...
More tranny rebuilding today. Assembly directions have two options...firm and firmest. Firmest sounds good.
Removing the old springs and installing the springs gave my thumbs a workout  Pulled all the springs off the ring before I realized the I had to choose between firm and FULL RACE...oh well FULL RACE it is.
Added the .500 TV valve as well. Need to add thicker plates to the clutch pack to keep the tolerance within spec. Need to reduce .020"
Should be finished next week.
0.500 TV Valve
New blades, rings and springs installed
White "FULL RACE" springs installed...all 19 of them
LOTS of this stuff
Valve body cleaned and new holes drilled
FIRMEST is the only way to go....

I followed the same for my "rebuilt rebuild". An excellent shifting transmission when I was done.
Good luck.

Re: 1989 Camaro - "The Project" Begins...
Been busy last month or so......Time get back to finishing off the tranny
Oops...that needs to be replaced
Gotta make sure all the little steel ***** are in place...can't have missing ***** !!
Value body DONE. Decided to get a new harness instead of reusing the old one.
Super Servo installed
Housing painted - always go with black
Just need to finish off the tail shaft and install the stall. Also have a TCI Alum pan going on next week.
Feels good to get the trans done....seems like it took all summer.

Re: 1989 Camaro - "The Project" Begins...
Time to get back and finish off the engine.
Holley AFPR Installed
New South Side Injectors installed. Due to the TPIS runner size, had to remove the valve covers for clearance.
Back view of the motor with all the sensors and plug-ins completed
Valve covers re-installed. Not a fan of the wire harness on top of the valve covers. Might try spliting the loom in two and running them under the runner. Also re installed the MSD coil
Driver's side. Tucked the wire harness under the runners.
Hope to get the engine running next week. Want to test the motor before it gets installed.

Thanks
The intake manifold is different than the stock unit. The bracket that hold the coil had to be notched a bit for it to sit flat.
Also, the stock manifold doesn't have the opening at the back near the coil. Have to order a block off plate from Hawk's.
These minor issues will happen with aftermarket parts. All part of the FUN.

Re: 1989 Camaro - "The Project" Begins...
Cleaning up the engine all last week. Installed Made-4-You 10.5 mm wire holders. These were the best ones to clear the SLP A.I.R. tubes (the do stick out a bit).
Few things to clean up the pass side of the engine;
Took the main wire harness that usually runs along the top of the valve cover and made two smaller wire harness sets. Then tucked them under between the runners and the side of the valve cover.
Didn't like the way the tubing ran from the TB, along the top of the valve cover and into the gromet opening. Found a rubber 90 degree elbow, smaller tubing, hose connector and ran everything thru the runners instead. Installed some plastic loom to clean up the look a bit.
Pass side of engine. Wiring harness ahs been tucked under between the runners and the valve covers. Adding boots to the spark plug wires.
Fuel hard lines painted and installed. New O rings added as well.
Close up shot of the throttle body open....ALL CLEAR

Hey Mr. The Project,
How did your AIR relocation work out? And do you have any suggestions for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps? Any interference with the dipstick or knock sensor? How the the hose/copper tube runs work out?

Started working on relocating the A.I.R. pump. Originally was going to move to near the battery but came up with a better idea.
All it took was cutting the back of the tubing, then adding some new tubing, make a few bends, have a coffee , bend some more, mock up to make sure the A.I.R. is tucked up close to the block, make a bracket, make a better bracket , have lunch, bend some more, fit headers for clearance.....AND VOILA...fits perfectly
I will be running the tubing from the headers and A.I.R. pump thru the back of the motor with copper fittings and tubing.

Re: 1989 Camaro - "The Project" Begins...
HI Joe,
I haven't installed the engine yet as house reno's have been ongoing since January.
I can tell you that there are no clearance issues with the AIR pump or dipstick and I did add a heat shield (painted with hi-temp paint) for the starter.
I fired her up few months ago on the engine stand with no problems.

Re: 1989 Camaro - "The Project" Begins...
I went through the same "battle" over the last two years with my own place in Ontario.
Finally sold (it took a year on and off more or less) and moved on.
As for Alberta, whether it's global warming or whatever, the last couple of winters have been very kind. So much so that I was piling up the miles on the old hot rod in March of last year. +20 on March 30th?! Being 30 minutes from the drag strip has its advantages too.
One thing that has changed is that my 2 car garage car has been workable through the winter with the addition of a little vapour barrier and a 150 000 BTU propane heater. Not to mention above average temps.
Of course, the car is in pieces because of this....reworking the cylinder heads, upgrading the cam, fixing leaks....

Re: 1989 Camaro - "The Project" Begins...
Glad you're enjoying the build and hopefully learning from my mistakes.
Not really working on the car this year, doing a bit of traveling and time with friends I haven't seen for a while.
Bought a few parts for later, Klearz tail lights, new door skin backs (from a TGO member), custom tweeter pods for the dash but nothing major.
Maybe in the fall.
This weekend, heading to Camaro Superfest in MI.

Re: 1989 Camaro - "The Project" Begins...
I hear you about other projects. My wife and I built a Mahogany table from scratch, I learned how to install cabinets... which like all of my projects, were over-engineered and took too long.
Not to hijack your thread too much, here is my AIR valve relocation. I went in front of the motor mount, directly below the pump.
