Hank L69 '85 IROC
Here are some pics of my '85 IROC. Engine is original 5.0 L69. Tranny is t-5 5-speed. Rear is 3.27 posi unit out of an '88 GTA. I have added 145 speedo (tired of pegging the 85mph unit) overhead consoul amd pbr disc rear. Had the car for 14 years and love it. Color is original #50 yellow.

awesome car! Thats a hardtop right? Love it even more.
L69s were great engines for the day and very rare in 85.
What's the mileage?

Great looking car. My dad had the same car, but silver on red. I would do anything to have that car back. It was the first car i truly loved.

Re: Hank L69 '85 IROC
To clarify--the Mustang 302 4bbl would get walked in 83 and 84 by the L69. Same transmission VS same transmission.
Only an 85 210hp 302 could take it.
If your talking about FI 302s....well no kidding. But that was not the case 83-84.
Don't forget the 85 Mustang automatic was big turd--TBI 180hp
So the L69 won 2/3 years (by that meaning carb VS carb--86 the Mustang was all FI)
I have tons of org road tests of the L69s. IT was universally praised for injecting alot of fun and performance over the LG4.

Believe what you read, I believe what I watched and none of the 305's had a chance back in the day. At the track or on the street. Yes the auto CFI 302 was a dog. Don't tell me your impressed with crossfire injection or a computer controlled quadrajet. I'd take any of the carb'd mustangs in a straight line against a L69. I'll even say I watched many l69's get beat by chrysler turbo lazers and daytona Z's.

1. Most people cannot drive. The chances of getting 2 very skilled drivers and then getting 2 nearly perfect runs is small.
2. Magazines are consistent. Even some times there numbers don't match the best 1/4 mile results in real life---2 cars almost never switch places in the order.
3. When did I ever mention the LU5 Crossfire???
4. who knows what cars you saw were stock?
So go ahead bash whatever

I have driven an LG4 4 speed 82 Z and 84 L69s 5 speeds....ones a turd and it's not the L69!
It made the car far more competitive

Re: Hank L69 '85 IROC
The car is too much fun not to drive so the mileage is 125K. Most of that is high speed highway miles. The only time it isn't my main summer car is when the Wisconsin weather is perfect and I take the '69 convert out. Thanks for all the positive repleys

Awesome car!! any more pics? I also would like to own a L69/5 spd. car. I recently looked at a 83 with the Lear Siegler interior but unfortunatly it was thrashed. I hope my cars are with me as long as yours have been with you, nice Iroc! All these yellow cars goin around lately makes me want to grab one up.
