Re: Painted the IROC yesterday
id really like to get some feedback on that set of wheels. the ones that are on it are for my moms 1983 monte carlo SS so i havent actually invested in a set of wheels yet. Its either those boss wheels, or Centerline Lazers http://centerlinewheels.com/wheels_d...=115&sw_id=958

Re: Painted the IROC yesterday
well ladies and gentlemen its been a while but here we go!!!
I the SRE lowering springs, bump steer kit, inner tie rods, adjustable panhard bar, and the adjustable strut towers from Spohn. The wheels are Boss 338's 18x8 front and 18x9.5 rear. im gona have to get a little work done to the offset to get them up underneath the fenderwell in the back, and after that i will clamp the rear springs or buy sportline rears. The hoods on the car now and i'll be painting the bumpers, mirrors, spoiler, and ground effects very soon, prepping them now. OH! and the front glass is in it.

the wheels shown in that picture i actually dont own, there going on my mom 1983 Monte Carlo SS. But they are 18x8 4.5" backspacing, 18x9.5 5" backspacing, they sit out about a quarter of an inch to far IMO and its a mass-produced wheel so thats all u can get.

the fronts e 225/45's and the rears are 255/45's or 40. I think were going to go with a 275 on the rear of the Monte.

Nice job on the Iroc!!! I like the gunmetal rims that you had on it. I think it'll set off the car way better than a Chrome wheel. White Irocs are just beautiful!!!! I've had 2 of my own... BTW where did you get the front suspension parts, tie rod ends etc??

Re: Painted the IROC yesterday
this car was completly tore down top to bottom so i cant say how long it would take to just tear it apart for paint. I would put at LEAST a month into it if i had to work it all into my schedule. That is if i were to have a paint booth and everything ready to go. Then id say 2 weeks after you paint it to water sand, buff, and put back together.
I plan on doing the swap next year actually, moneys tight and i want to do it right. Go through the motor n such, the sway is going to consist of the LQ4 with a TKO600, later on a Moser 9inch, and the front suspension is getting tubular K-member, A-Arms, and coil-overs.

Re: Painted the IROC yesterday
See I need my own place to do this.. Which hopefully will happen next year so I can start working on it! It will be fun..
BTW how come to Moser 9inch? I know the one from moser is definitely more than enough, but the MWC Fab9 is probably as strong if not stronger, and much lighter (with the aluminum center section) an is actually lighter than a stock 10 bolt..

That's what I'm getting eventually to replace my noisy, grinding rear end (which I have already rebuilt and is still crap!).

Re: Painted the IROC yesterday
I just checked out that FabD9" setup and im kind of diggin' it. Seems kind of unbeatable considering it comes with LCA's and a TQ arm. If your go to Spohn's site they have setups for our cars, but to get it how u wants itll run u about 3k or more.

Re: Painted the IROC yesterday
yes that is the factory white color, if you need the codes i have them. Thanks for the hints on buffing i have a good buffer and all the compound to do it and a little expierience but i mite have to try putin some tape on it for a little assurance, as for graphics or anything that might go on the car im debating on whether or not i want to put the factory red IROC-Z back on the door or put a black hockey stripe on it like Sinister's car. the car has a red interior soo gimme some input on what yall think. By the way as for expierience im 19.
Hockey sticks heres what mine is going to look like

Re: Painted the IROC yesterday
You did an amazing job on that paint! Car looks great. I think black headlight buckets, clear front side markers, some dark tint, and painting the orange on the tail lights red and/or spraying a couple light coats of nightshade on them would look great. All that matters is that YOU like it though, and taking your time and your attention to detail has really paid off! That car is CLEAN man!

Re: Painted the IROC yesterday
It is a stock length third gen rear end and the wheels are 18x8's and 18x9.5's i believe the backspacing it 4" up front and 5.25 out back. The plans for the tailights are to tint them and get tinted corner markers for it, id really like to tint the windows but i have a heated rear glass and there arent many people in my area that are good enough, in my book, to do it the way id want.

2 questions. Do the tires scrub front or back and I noticed that you don't have the
front centercaps on, Do they not clear the hub cap? Thanks, I'm looking at buying
these in the next week in black and any help answering my q's is appreciated.
