Wow! You have really taken on a project and seen it through. Congratulations! It's really nice that someone sees these cars as valuable enough to put so much work into bringing one back. A really impressive piece of work and very well documented.

Re: 1985 Camaro Restoration
There is some pretty good work done here. It could help a lot of people out because its a common problem with these Camaro's and probably every other car. I'm 18 with little to no experiance and a tight budget and I pulled this off and it turned out well. So check it out (link in my sig).
The main work done was changing the sub frame floor support then making and welding in the drivers side floor pan and fixing the transmission crossmember and mount. Plus lots of other frame rail patching. Also changing the distributer and coil.

Wait until you restore the interior.
Took me over 18 months just to find/source all the parts.
Many interior parts are discontinued from GM and no aftermarket companies have picked up the slack.

Re: 1985 Camaro Restoration
4th gen seats are a direct bolt in.
It's probably easier to go to Hawks, MDM, Year One and Classic Ind and see what is available than to list what is not.
More parts are discon than are available.
My interior has cost me almost $3,000 so far. I have repalced over 90% of the interior with NOS....got a bit carried away.
Most costly item was a NOS dashpad ($ 250).
Rarest part was NOS kick panels and spare tire cover panel.
I've only seen NOS kick panels twice on ebay. Last set sold for over $100 US.
Also, I've only ever seen one NOS tire panel (in the original box)...it's sitting in my car...
Bear in mind my interior is black which is very desirable (and expensive).
My build link.

Re: 1985 Camaro Restoration
Wow that is some good work. Give yourself some credit. I think that was a difficult job. I just did driver floor and my frame was rust free. Just the floor had rust. I thought I had it bad. You did yours in half the time it is taking me. I still have some welding and sealing to do before my floor is done. It is a great feeling of accomplishment though isnt it? I know that when I am done this will hopefully outlast the rest of the car. I cut my floor out of a donor car to keep the original look. Good job. Your work will definately inspire others.

Re: 1985 Camaro Restoration
I know you said you are on a tight budget. I would of course recommend one of those sites above but you could go to Craigslist or even the JY to find a decent used set. I scored a decent full set of Lear Sigler seats from an 82 Camaro. Not perfect but much better than my ripped up smoke smelling original seats. There is a lear Sigler thread on here and pics of my seats are on there.

Re: 1985 Camaro Restoration
Thanks a lot for the info. The crappy thing is that my friend had those seats for his maro. Took them out and then decided he didnt want to do the project and he brought the car to the crusher. Waste of those seats and I coulda got them for cheap / free.

Re: 1985 Camaro Restoration

Also I don't have the cutouts for the rear speakers. My panels are perfectly smooth (not sure why).
I still need to get some custom seat tracks made so I can install the racing seats.
