well it's been a while since iv been on here but i bought another camaro (7th) and I'm going to paint it. i posted pics of the last camaro i did and well must of you didn't like it cuz the .... well you didn't like it lol. but hey to each his own right. i got on you tube today and looked for uniquely painted camaros i just don't see that many. there all solid colors and .... common. so I'm going to paint this one almost the same way the orange and black one is only I'm going to use a bright green and black. and yup I'm going to put another hood scoop on to I'm building a 350 for it at the same time. I'm following a build i seen on Chevy performance and the motor should be between 400hp and 440hp. I'm really stripping this car down and going through everything. going to try to make it show quality.... we'll see. feel free to drop your opinions. like in the last thread for the orange camaro... i welcome all views, well most of them anyway be nice we all have our flavors

 

here are some pics the new camaro i just picked up. next to nothing for rust. very solid. nicely done up 305 and does'nt even have cracks in the although it is very dirty little elbow grease and i'll have it shining

 

I like it.

Definitely unique, and not overdone. I'm not a big fan of flames or bright colors, I guess maybe because I've seen it done a lot, and I don't think it looks too good on F-body anyway, but I actually like the orange/black. Don't think I'll be too much of a fan of the green though...

 

Have you thought about adding a pinstripe where the black meets the orange? I think that would help define the edge and make it look better. Something like a white pinstripe about 1/4" to 1/2" wide.

 

Not sure why alot of people didn't like your last paint job. Looks great to me...not overdone or cheesy. Your new paint will kick *** too!

 

good idea with the pin stipe i might try that. thanks for the input. as far as the green goes not sure what green yet. maybe something close to this guys forhead -> . anyway i'll keep the pictures coming as i progress.

if those colors are sex I'm buying some new underwear and I'll put it to the test.... see if i get my wife's hamster moving lol lol lol . and ya liked the car. see i just want to step out of the box, have some fun with it. that orange and black camaro my wife and actually designed on need for speed underground. yup my daughters game. i mean how many of us when we were kids thought "wow I'd love to have a car that looked like that" well that's where I'm heading anyway thanks for input guys and hey info idea's you have throw em my way... cazy as they can be, i dont mind i'm also thinking about body kit since the ground effects on this camaro are pretty rough.

progress has been slow but starting to show some change. getting ready to do the doors, hood, etc. next. hopefully in the next week or so. still need to come up with a nice set of rims to accent the color and design i'm going paint down the sides. camaro are fun

 

I like the blue green of your house more then the green on your car it to bright for me your definitely going to turn some heads with that paint.

Dont do the same scoop, it kills the overall look. Maybe try something a little else.

 

lol lol i love the photo shop of my other camaro with the green on it. so any ideas on the scoop i was'nt sure if i was going to do it again. the orange one had a built olds 403 and even if i went with a cowl hood i still would have had a hard time putting an air filter on it, that engine bay was packed.... very fast car thoa

ya the designs are going to be very similar to the orange camaro, i just really like em. little different but the same....

 

just my two cents. if you were able to incorprate the black swirl/desgin onto the head light buckets some way i think that would look freaking awesome dude. but other than that. right on i love it

 

I think if you can fit a small hood like an SS style hood that'd be amazing with the colors. And i agree with the adding the design to the headlight bucket areas maybe even bringing it up the hood a bit.

 

anybody have any pics or photoshop kinda stuff for the headlight buckets and hood? i like that idea and should'nt be to hard for an amature painter. i'm no pro but i'v done some pretty nice paintjobs.

 

the scoop wouldnt be so bad if the bottom of it was almost even with the top of the hood and it was angled down a lil more in the front.

right now it just kinda looks sorta out of place bein up so high and tipped slightly up in the front

 

well the orange one i sold last summer. the green one is one i just got a few weeks ago. if i go with a hood a scoop i was thinking about making it so only half would stick up above the hood. but i'm still out on that one, not sure yet. still trying to repair my front quarter panels..... taking for ever

ya fenders sorry I'm trying to redo everything myself with out buying new parts unless absolutely necessary. i and one finder is bent up at the bottom pretty bad and one has some rust. it'll turn out nice

 

got my motor the other day, traded a truck for it. since i painted the block i'll post it it in here i'm following a build from chevyperformance . com and the motor will be at least 440hp. i'm going a little further then the build went with my heads so i'm hoping to get just north or 460hp. the only thing i have left to buy for the build is the valve train. trying to sell some things to get up the rest of the dough.

 

well its slow but coming along very nicely. i just got my fenders in today and thought i'd update the thread. i have been collecting parts mostly and done some painting but not much more this weekend hope to finish the green up and then i can start on the design on the sides. also have about 90% of my go fast parts. so should be starting an engine build thread soon as well. would still love to get some ideas for wrapping the design into the headlight buckets, pictures, drawing, photoshops etc.

That's because good taste usually prevails. I'm not saying a car should always be one solid color but generally they look better that way.

Unique doesn't always mean good.

well got it put back together. i set the carb scoop on there just for the pic. i still need to wet sand and put on my 3rd coat of paint and then on to the black designs down the sides. going slow but i think it's going to look pretty good.

 

I like it like that.It reminds me of the green color AAR cudas from the 60's.I think it would look great with those blk GTA wheels too.

What up with your GFX?Are those screws right by the front wheel?

 

ya those are screws. those ground fxs are going to be replaced this winter.

 

i'm stumped on the paint down the sides please throw some advise my way. kinda look childish the way i did it. kinda hard to see, the tape i am using is green and kinda blends in with the paint.

 

Whether or not I like a style of car or a ground effects package or what not, I do like to see people try new ideas, it helps my own hamsters get going!

I was wondering, ever tried metallic or color shifting paints? I had a neighbor years ago who wanted to experiment with paints that showed different things depending on the color shift (say looked like a solid color from one angle, but you'd see flames or something from another angle) and it sounded awesome, but I moved before I ever saw him through it. Ever think of trying any of that stuff?

 

I used purple to blue shifter on my 92 RS & she chose it for her 90 RS.

In person, it was purple with hints of blue at certain angles. In pics, it was pretty much always just blue, unless you got really lucky with the light & angle.

 

Thats awesome Stephen! I've seen so few cars with color shifting paint... aside from the junky rattle can stuff kids spray on their cars that just look like oil puddles. I'd love to see those cars in person. Such a neat idea.

 

It has been 7 & 9 years I've owned either of those.

The 92 was the first, done back in 95/96? I tried to get the REA Lystique off of the Ford Roush Mustangs, but Ford was REAL picky about that paint. Unless it was going on a real Ford Roush Mustang? You could not buy it. Period.

That was about when others were starting to copy the color shifting idea, so I got one of those. Nowhere near as good as Fords Mystique paint, but still decent color shifting paint.

 

Dang, woulda liked to have seen those. I'd try it out, but I'm lucky to lay down a smooth layer of primer, let alone paint. Still would love to see the poster try it out though!

ok the shifting paint i could do but what about the flame i taped off? do they look stupid or childish? i was thinking about that kind of paint as well and maybe having it fade out toward the end of the flames but after i stepped back last and looked at it my wife said it kinda looked amature so now i'm insecure about and second guessing lol how does the tape job look?

 

it looks amature at best, which is why i said to do the hockey stripes. they're simple and clean, and easy to tape off. and yet, you still have your black to break up that bright frickin' color.

 

I personally like the flames on the yellow car better than the ones you taped off on the green car. Its really hard to pinpoint what doesn't look right, but I think its the part that's right behind the front wheel. The flame splits off into twin tails that go in different directions, and for some reason it just doesn't look quite right. I'd try maybe retaping that portion of it with a different flame design and see if it looks better.

 

ok how about this? i think this looks way better and even my wife said it looked ok.... she my biggest critic, i'd sell her to the highest bidder lol

mw66nova.... ouch that hurt, i'm just having fun. i'm no pro when it comes to painting but practice make ..... sometimes better lol if not i'll start over and redo it. i'm putting a pretty monster drivetrain in it so i dont plan on getting rid of it any time soon. so i can always repaint later.

 

Personally I like it a lot better. The flow of that design is much neater, and I think when you get the paint on there, it'll look even better than it does mocked up.

 

its painted i'm just waiting for it to dry up some before i pull the tape. i'll post pics in a couple hours.

Just as I thought, I like it more now that its not just an outline and is two different colors.

Ok, now I really do like it with the black. I didn't really like the green till I saw the black on it. Kudos for taking a chance. Wish I could paint halfway decent, heh.
