Depends on if its rust free or has any other issues. Any Id ask why it has a 'bird wing on it.
Re: is this a good deal???
If you want a higher mileage Third Gen that'll most likely need a lot of work, go for it. Offer him 1,400 if you really want the car, he'd take it.
Edit: Wait, nevermind. I'd never take any used car that's from around the Philly area. LOL. I'm originally from Burlington county, NJ. Lived there for almost 14 years.

Most people that dont know much about Chevys think all V8s are 350s. Its probably the 305 with TBI.

Re: is this a good deal???
yeah i know, ill ask him for a engine bay picture. but the only way you can prolly tell is to measure the cylinders. hahaha,
doesnt t5's only hold up to 325-345hp?????

Re: is this a good deal???
If a non W/C T-5 could stand up to nearly 350 Horsepower, why would they even think of putting a boring automatic into every 5.7 third gen, of which I believe never saw the better side of 250 Horsepower?
The problem isn't just "Horsepower". For a lower revving TPI to produce a mere 200 overall Horsepower, you're going to need a lot of Torque. The 330-345 FT.-LBS. of Torque is what would really destroy a T-5. Not the humble 200-250 FT.-LBS. you'll see at peak Horsepower.
What'd the L98's produce peak power at, 5 grand? 230 Horsepower @ 5,000 RPM equates to only 241.6 FT.-LBS. of Torque. A T-5 can stand up to that just fine, it's just hard launches and the 2,000-3,500 RPM range you have to really watch out for.
Maybe it's not even a Camaro engine. Maybe this guy swapped in an LT1, or any of the numerous 5.7 fuel injected truck engines, and just decided to keep his T-5.
If you want to get to the bottom of this quickly, don't mess around and just guess, or ask for engine pictures that won't tell anything. Ask him for the VIN, so you know what the car originally came with, and tell him to get you the block casting number, or the heads casting number, at least. Usually with just the head casting number you can find out what size engine they were used on.

Re: is this a good deal???
They have probably every single block and head casting number, ever. It's a good site.
