Bought another Thirdgen 91Z28
I just bought this car a couple of weeks ago. My 84 is still street driven but has become more of a race car. It's a blast to drive but not something you want to drive a lot...5mpg, exhaust fumes, no Ac, no heat, spool, no power steering etc. I wanted another car that I could jump in and drive anywhere with out any hassle so I bought this one.
Its a 91 Z28 5.7L TPI, G92, 66K miles. I did a car fax on it and found that it was in CA until 2003 with the original owner then went to Iowa from 2004-2008Then the last owner brought it to Indiana. Its a very clean car with 0 rust. I was amazed when I changed the oil for the first time and really looked closely at the under side it was super clean. I doubt the car has seen hardly any weather. The interior is almost perfect. The body is very straight with only a few small dings that are barely noticable. The paint is so so, it has a few scatches and you can tell it has been touched up. Part of the drivers from fender looks like it may have been spray painted.
It needs a little work. Had a code 32 on the drive home for EGR. I replaced the EGR solenoid valve and a couple of leaky vacuum lines and it seems to be good now. The water pump leaks a little, I'm going to replace it this weekend along with the radiator hoses, plugs, wires, cap, and rotor.
I'm planning on driving it with this engine for a couple of years then swapping in a close to stock LS engine. I will paint it this year or next. Just not sure if I will do rims/tires(not a big fan of the stock wheels), sfc, lcas first or paint it.
I'll get some better pics once the weather is better, its been raining and snowing ever since I got it home.

Thanks guys, I feel pretty fortunate to find the car. Especially finding about 1 hour from home. I drove all the way from IN to PA to look at another car that was a disappointment.

Excellent find! Exactly what I am working towards a minor restore on (signature has link).

I've been following your build. You have done a great job with it so far. I paid $5500 for mine. It was by far the best deal of all the cars I looked at. I looked at several that were in about the same condition or worse that people wanted $10k or more for. These cars have definately gone up in value since that last time I looked.

I would have given $5500 for that one too; it looks real good. I think I'll end up a little bit better than that amount after I do an engine and trans rebuild next year (just to know it is done).

NICE! that makes me wanna go out and buy another one! I would keep the stock 5.7 engine especially if you want a DD. It's still got alot of running left based on the mileage.

Re: Bought another Thirdgen 91Z28
I took some better pictures of the car. I've worked on it quite a bit the last few weeks. I changed the water pump, all the coolant hoses, and intake manifold gasket to get rid of all the coolant leaks. I did the throttle body coolant bypass mod too. I cleaned the intake up with some simple green and scotch brite pads, it looks almost new now. I also fought a code 32 issue for awhile, changed the egr solenoid, egr valve and found a vaccum line pinched under the fuel rail. I also changed the spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Its now leak free and running well with no more codes. I also went over the paint with some 3m hand glaze then gave it a coat of wax.

Here are a couple pics of the engine bay. Didn't look bad before but its definately cleaner now. I also ordered some billet specialties rims(17x8 front, 17x9.5 rear). I should have the rims in a few weeks, hopefully they will look as good as I think they will.

Clean... sooooo clean! I like the looks of those wheels, but really think a 18" would have looked leaps and bounds better.

I bugged him about that car and then the day my 80 Z28 sold he posted that this one sold. Good to see it was bought and will be taken care of.

I'm glad I was able to buy it. I always keep an eye out for cars for sale even when I'm not seriously looking to buy, this is one of the better ones I've found for a decent price. I've been having a lot of fun with it, my 5 year old daughter likes to ride in it too which is cool. I drive it to work occasionally when its nice outside too.
