Nice ride. Put the right wheels on it!

Why the motor swap? I'd leave it original...

Re: picked up a mint 1990 iroc-z!!

Wow that's nice, but I would leave it original because it has the Canadian kph gauges, unless your going to swap the 145 MPH gauges in.

But let me see if I got this straight, your idea is to swap the engine in your red Iroc to this new one and the TPI from this new one to your red Iroc ?

I agree that it's too nice to swap the engine on, but it's your car.

Dont swap it! There are getting to be fewer and fewer nice clean original examples of these cars.

Re: picked up a mint 1990 iroc-z!!

please leave it alone . 1990 is the last yr of the iroc and there were so few made you would be amazed at what an original 1990 iroc is worth . just change the dash pad and wax the crap out of the rest of the car . I'm not against mods but , mpo not this one . its already awsome . keep the mods going on the original car . then you'll have a nice pair!

Wow! So clean... Its hard to find clean car like that near montreal! Keep it clean and original in my opinion is the best way! Keep mods the red one and keep you black like this!

Re: picked up a mint 1990 iroc-z!!

I have to go with the majority and say clean it and leave it. You can always sell it, buy a clean roller to put your drive train in, and still put some money in you pocket. It's your car, your call.
Good luck with your project which ever way you go

If you do swap motors and mod the car, keep and store all the original parts so if you do go to resell it it will maintain its value.

Leave both alone.....drive the wheels off the red one during the week, black one for weekend cruising - shows.

I dont understand the logic in swapping motors, wheres the return on investment in your labor to do that?

Re: picked up a mint 1990 iroc-z!!

yes its 190 000km, and no way im selling this car in 30 years im still going to own it. i will definitly keep all the original parts and engine but the tpi doesnt run good the previseuse owner spent over 1000$ at the gm dealer to trying to get it to idle and run right and it still doesnt run good. i know it sucks but i respect third gens and i cant afford keeping both i dont have the room. but this car will look almost original from the outside, i just want some performance wich is what i think there cars deserved. Im going to convert it to 4 wheel disc brake with my red iroc. and do you guys know why my red iroc has the wonder bar and (i think) bigger sway bars? i though all irocs had the wonder bar stock.

Re: picked up a mint 1990 iroc-z!!

yea me too , double ck the frame around the steering box for cracks install the wonder bar from the red one if you insist on mods on the black one .also run the vin make sure it is infact an Iroc. doesn'really matter . since youre going to change everythingover anyway. Irocs usually bhave 4 disc brakes as well ,so check it out.

Re: picked up a mint 1990 iroc-z!!

Wonder bar was part of an extra cost handling option (FE2 I believe) and 4 wheels discs were also an option and not standard on all IROCs. Although they may have come standard on 350 cars, I dont know, mines a 305 and has drums

The wonder bar was standard on all IROC-Zs. It was not an option adder.

Four wheel disc brakes were an option. They were standard when certain other options were ordered, but if a base IROC-Z was purchased, it would not have disc brakes.
