'87 Z-28, Project Cross Country
I figured I'd post up some pictures of the newest project. I picked up a silver 1987 Camaro Z-28 For a steal. For a $1000 car, it's not bad, Just a little bit of rust, a couple or spots that need to be patched.
As for plans, I want to do a restoration (sorta) with a few light mods, I want to be able to take the tops off, and head out across Canada or the States. Here's My ideas so far:
-The car was an original LG4/700R4 setup, Going to stick with an LG4/T5 combo.
-mild cam in the LG4 305ci, holley carb, fuel pump, and ignition.
-Spec clutch and OEM flywheel
-G92 RPO rear end from an '88 IROC
-KYB struts/shocks paired with Eibach sportlines
-1LE brake swap (If I can get it for decent $$$)
-Hooker headers, and flowmaster exhaust
-OEM 15" wheels (Love them!)
-New windshield
-Clean up the interior / New seats
-Respray in factory silver
-Find rear Louvres
So, let me know what you all think of the general plans, there are a few things that Need to be done first. the Car is off the road tomorrow as I saw some snow on the hills this morning, and I'm back off to work next Wednesday anyhow for three weeks, so I'll try to keep this updated as much as I can. But, Here's the pictures!!!

Here's the worst of the rust (sofar lol)
the driver's door is rotted thru as well, so I kept the one off the '86 (which I sold because after a VIN search, it's just a sport coupe)
I'll post up some more tomorrow after I get started tearing into her.

Re: '87 Z-28, Project Cross Country
thanks, It's going to be a lot of work, but being home for three weeks at a time with nothing to do, I'm hopeful that i can get most of it done by spring.
Well, I took the interior apart in the rear today to really find out how much rust is in this thing. I knew there was some decent cancer in the passenger wheel well. and this is what I found!
It's not too bad, repairable at least
and I also took it to the shop for a dyno pull

The car needs some love like you said. But its not a bad ride i think, and if you do everything you say you are then it should be a pretty sweet car. Are you keeping the 2 tone style painting?Just curious.

Looks like a good project car. My helper just lays on the floor in my way and grunts at me when I step over him lol!

Re: '87 Z-28, Project Cross Country
thanks! it would be such a shame for a true Z28 car to be just tossed aside...
Some more work done today, finally got my front driver side floor fixed up! and started on paint stripping the engine bay.
we also got started on our other project, my best friend picked this up for a steal, and the plan is to put a B18c AWD setup in it.
and this is some sh*tty metal work... even mine looks so much better..
