Hi all,

Already posted this in the Europe section since I live in Finland, now I noticed there's a separate section for our own vehicles.

I've always wanted a 80's third gen car, so last spring I picked up this "beauty", an 85 Z28 that someone decided to turn into a nice pickup truck
In the 80's you had to pay zero car tax if you bought a van or pickup truck, so a guy imported around 140 F-bodies and crudely chopped them into pickup trucks. Later on they fixed this loophole, most likely because of people driving Ladas and whatnot complaining about how it's unfair someone can buy a western car for less than their Soviet-made miracles. This one has been further modified by a hobbyist at an unspecified date, but I think it turned out ok all things considered.

She's got an LG4 with a mild cam, headers, exhaust and Edelbrock intake / carb done so she actually moves pretty well. This spring I will need to sort out the trans as well as some paint problems and really bad weather stripping + sagging headliner, but otherwise it's pretty solid, since she hasn't been winter driven in the last 30 years or so. Other stuff that needs doing include oil pressure gauge sensor, dash lights as well as some nice floormats (still got what I think are original Z28 rubber / wool mats, but the wool part is kind of coming apart so they would need some slight refurbishing). Really excited for next spring when I get to mess around with this again, probably won't do anything during the winter.

Re: Pickup Camaro
"Camarino" = a cross breeding of a Camaro and an El Camino , , , , Interesting .....

While I don't usually favor such Frankenstein builds I will say that whoever built that had great car bodywork skill !

Re: Pickup Camaro
Don't have that many pics yet, will need to address some paint issues on the bed as well as give her a polish next spring, I'm gonna post some pics of what I get done.

Re: Pickup Camaro
That is awesome. Just need a spoiler on tailgate / back of bed that looks like stock. Very cool

Re: Pickup Camaro
very cool and looks nicely done-the walled off area behind the seats(if properly built) should help make the chassis more rigid VS original hatchback GT coupe body Hate to feed stereotypes, but wearing a certain mid-'80s hairstyle and hacked sleeve denim shirt while driving around in this would be a blast just to see the reaction

Re: Pickup Camaro
I would grow a m*ll*t just to be allowed a chance to drive that thing.

Re: Pickup Camaro
From the pictures so far, this actually appears to be really well done. I think... I think I'd actually drive it, given the chance.

Congratulations on your purchase!

Re: Pickup Camaro
I agree, those mirrors are ugly and a bit too small, just need to find a pair of stock ones somewhere. Not a lot of parts cars left here.

Re: Pickup Camaro
I usually hate "custom cars" but this car is well done and I'd rather have it than a traditional El Camino I'm just saying..
