it'll look mostly like an 85-90. Are you thinking about swapping a T/A bumper with the integrated ground effects or a base/formula bumper with the black rubber inserts?

Re: 84 Trans AM

What 85-90 style bumper are you talking about. You can put an 85-90 Firebird/Formula bumper on it with no problems and the car would basically look like a Formula. However, if you want to put an 85-90 Trans Am front bumper on it you have to add the 85-90 ground effects as well because the bumper won't line up right with the fenders without the ground effect pieces.

Re: 84 Trans AM

If he has a 84 'aero' t/a the front bumper from a 85-90 will flow with the rest of the car just fine. I wouldnt do it anyway 82-84's are more rare.

Re: 84 Trans AM

I have a 84 t/a w/ aero pkg. Unfortunately the g/fx are a bolt on to the normal nose. The tip of the nose had a hole in it and I replaced it with a 85 T/A nose. The reinforcement bar will not allow you to put driving lights in the holes, that will have to be changed as well. You will also have to gey the fender fx in front of the tire. Once that is done you will notice that the nose g/fx are about 1"-1 1/2" higher. It looks uneven!

I changed the fenders to regular firebird and added the entire g/fx for a 85-90 T/A, I also got some GTA rims - instant clone.

I just couldn't put GTA emblems on it, it just is not a GTA.
But you would swear it is!

True , but doesn't matter anyway GTA means squat, its a badge and nothing more with the exception of 1 or two interior goodies and gold accents. In fact in my eyes regular trans am's have more options. At least the IROC Z sported some extra's the z28 did not.

Also I would totally trade all my 85-90 package for 84 aero t/a stuff. There is no comparison. You just don't see aero 84's everyday.

Re: 84 Trans AM

The 84 looks too nice to be a parts car. Is it rotting out or something? You could definitely sell off the bumper covers and ground effects if the sheetmetal is rotting out. Those ground effects and a good front bumper cover can be hard to come by in good shape. When you're looking to sell it off as a shell or part it out, be sure to post on www.earlythirdgen.com
