Debating on selling Trans am for a 69 Impala

Didnt know where else to post so i just posted here. I love my Trans Am more than words can express. It has a priceless value to me and its my baby. It really is.but after 2 years and 6 grand later...it's still not done. Everything from replacing the front bumper to swapping out the motor has been done. She sat for 10 years so of course theres gonna be bugs here and there. But its mainly my dad fixing the car and considering he works 7 days a week and comes home almost every day and works on the Trans Am...i feel horrible. I watch the show Supernatural and ive always LOVED their Impala. So i was on craigslist last night...came across a 69 that needs work.It was used as a daily driver. Its puke green on the outside and puke green on the inside.I showed my dad and he got all excited because he was talking about all the things you could do to that car and how fun of a project itd be. Like swapping out the 350 for a big block. Cammin that sucker up and straight piping it. We have emissions here so if we got that,we wouldnt have to worry. He was talking about doing just about everything to it. Only problem would be body panels if i ever wrecked it,but never the less. IM debating on what i should do. The Impala is only 1900 Bucks. It's rough but itd be an AWESOME project. And i absolutely love the Trans Am and thats been an awesome project to.But i cant stand to see it be driven away by someone else. Anyone have an opinion or input for this? Im torn. Ill post comparison pictures

Or

This is what id aim for it to look like in the end

Re: Debating on selling Trans am for a 69 Impala

I would trade my camaro in a heartbeat for a 2 door impala for 65-68, especially a fastback.

but a 69 four door? are you freaking serious? you do know that they look NOTHING like 67 in photo, right?

Here's a pic of my dad and my grandfather with their matching 69's. You have to be JOKING that would trade a trans am for one of these, especially the one you pictured, that looks like it needs a full restoration.

Re: Debating on selling Trans am for a 69 Impala

Man 69 is just kinda an ugly year for Impalas... I would not trade your car, or sell your car for a 4 DOOR version of this anyway, anyhow! You said your car is priceless and it would hurt to see anyone else driving... Think about how bad your gonna feel when you have the same problems you have to work out on your ancient "grandma" car... in puke green. Keep your car or at least upgrade.

Re: Debating on selling Trans am for a 69 Impala

seriously... worst idea ever. The 67-68 Impala had a combination of styling and muscle that NO other full sized car in history have ever been able to match. I can't even think of a close second place, other than the 65-66 impalas

I'm thinking the OP isn't even serious, he's just trying to throw out something so insane he'll get the rest of us worked into a frenzy

If that's the case, bravo. You've had me thinking about this thread all morning with a permanent facepalm

Re: Debating on selling Trans am for a 69 Impala

I say do what makes you happy. But remember that all the money and time that you sunk into your Trans Am is going to be spent all over again, and then some, on that Impala. Simply due to age, it will need a full restore from the ground up to fix all current issues and prevent future issues. Some parts may not be available any more (I could be wrong) and a junk yard Impala may be near impossible to find, and require you or a shop to fab up a custom piece (costly). You will be starting over, and spending many thousands more to make it look like brand new. So if you're looking to exit your Trans Am project because of time and expenses spent past/future, you will not be saving anything by going to an Impala. But if you're looking for a change in vehicle because you're bored of third gens, then go ahead and make the switch. Just an FYI.

Now, if you really like the look of the '67 two door from Supernatural, I'd keep looking until I found one and pass on this '69 four door. They won't look like the same car once restored. My two cents.

If possible, I'd keep the Trans Am and perhaps find a '67 Impala two door and build that one on the side. That's what I'm doing. Good luck and have fun! :-)
