anybody replaced airbleeds?

I know the highspeed bleeds are normally used to lean the topend by increasing the size of the bleed.
But, do the idle bleeds work the same? I read that increasing the size of the idle bleed will make it more active. Does that mean that the idle circuit is leaner at the top also?

I got a surge thats in the transition of the idle to main I think. The idle circuit is a little rich and I am going to lean it a little.

It can and has been done sure..altho it's usually not nessecary. Normally it's done to accomodate a largish cam at idle or fine tune the cruise mix for better economy.

A transition surge is usualy a poorly tuned accelerator pump. I'd try that first.

What kind of carb is it and what are some of the details on that 400?

its a demon 1000

and they do have a pretty good amount of work done out of the box. 4corner idle.. holes in the throttle plates...

The cam is about 240+ with a 109lsa..
And vacuum is below 9inchs at idle and not steady..

Its got a good squirt shot.. delaying with a smaller squirter might help a little but I don't think it will clear this up.

Hmm yeah with only 9" of vacuum you prolly will need to mess with the bleeds.

The Demon I just got (750DP) came wth an extra set of high idle bleeds for use with larger cams. I guess they're just not calibrated for it normally. Did yours? 1000cfm would make it a King Demon anyway shouldn't it? Don't those come with screw in bleeds and 50cc pumps?

its not a king.. its one of these

http://demoncarbs.com/demoncarbs/race2_.htm
Part # 2563010
1000 Race Demon Well-prepared 440 to 470 CID & moderate 480 to 510 CID, DIRT modified 5/8 mi track light Bracket or Super class cars

While it is a little big.. the one down from that was a little too small for my liking (825)

But.. it does have screwin bleeds. but the carb did not come with any extra. I had a set of 8 from a old bg race carb that i will use to fix the idle circuits and then go from there on whats next.

Pain to drill them little things using a pin drill bit..

ahh well that makes it real easy then. Just get different bleeds and swap them in...see if it helps. They're cheap I think.

altho I still say its much more likely the pump has a flat spot. if you don't have an A/F gauge..get one....it'll help you narrow stuff liek this down.

Remember if you want them richer..you wanna try smaller bleeds not larger..so you don't have to worry about drilling them out.

yeah.. but they don't come in various sizes

The last they told me at BG.. they only have one blank and you buy them in bulk and take them to whatever size you need.

No presized

Wel really thats a much better way of doing it. You have to go through the trouble of drillign them yourself...but you only have to buy one set rather than an assortment of sizes.

thats probably true

but its going to be a pain to find a 071 bit..
I think i will go with annular boosters on the primaries. that will pick up booster signal a little.
