Do you have any idea how much a track costs? I do.

And , planning a big event is not easy, it takes a lot of time and posting, just to let ya know. Up to you though, just don't plan it when I do Thirdgen Nat'ls '03 still waitin to hear back from someone about the parks, guess I'll just call on my own, so I can get a date set.

Maybe, spring time perhaps. yeah, we would have something similar to that at Thirdgen Nat'ls '03 as the track thing goes, and a dyno don't forget.

Soon, as the cold weather goes away we'll think about setting up some local gatherings again.

I think a shootout would be awesome! I know my car is slow, but it would still be a lot of fun.

As for monthly gatherings, I'd be up for those too, anytime of the year.

I was just at budds last weeknd on sat they had the Mopar gathering, and tehere were some bad $$$ old mopars up there. If you were to do a shoot out, u would have to get the whole camaro/firebird family to go to get a big turn out. New and old that is or even a GM meet. But its a good idea.. later

A track rental is not as bad as you think. I have some connections as I used to work at Mason Dixon. I think a camaro firebird meet would be great.

If we all pull together it could happen.

depends upon the track, Cecil wanted $10k,

i'm lookin into a fairgrounds and 75-80 Dragway is near by.

i think Capitol may not be too much further.

Hey I've been to Mason Dixon and even though it's a bit of a drive it is a really nice track. It should also be cheaper than the rest of the tracks due to it's location especially if we have the hookup

Cecil wanted $10K? for some reason that doesn't surprise me. The most expensive part of a track rental, from my years working at MD, is the EMT expense. They have to be there to run, and they get around $10 hour per person. Also need 2 of them at least. When the Ford SHO group was there this year, they got the place for a day about 1/10 what cecil wants. dividing the cost up between members made it pocket change for each person.

email Elmer Wachter, operator of MD, dragway1@aol.com

I am sure he will like this sort of event.

i hear it's not the best, but if we can get it all to ourselves, can't be all that bad. it's the closest to the camp and fairgrounds I believe, i'll look into Capitol too, see how far that is.

Guys, I don't care if I was the only car @ 75-80, it is not worth the time, I am serious. The timing system is antequated, the electric shorts out and shuts them down about 12 times a year, and the staff is horrible. The surface of the track is in really really really bad shape. I am not being mean or anything< i have sepnt enough time there to know. Please look elsewhere for your own sake.

Capitol is a nice track. I have met Kim before, the operator, and she is cool. And MIR is sweet, too, although I am NHRA tech certified and it is an IHRA track.

FWIW ...

75/80 sux ***. I hate the fu(kin' track. I like Mason Dixon a lot. Great track. I would imagine that MD wouldn't be that expensive. It's not a popular track and nobody seems to hold club events there too much. Don't know why though - it's definitely my first choice for a track for where I am.

As for club events at MD, there are quite a few, but they are small. The Mopar meet in May has been going on for about 19 years now, and it brings in around 400 cars or so in the show field.

There is a big Corvette meet there in August of 2003, celebrating the 50th anniversary.

I worked at MD for 4 years as the announcer, so if you guys need anything answered I will try.
