My new Ride
My new Ride
I originally joined this forum to get some help with the L03 in my caprice, but now it looks like I am one of you guys! I purchased an '89 GTA on friday night. It has a built 350 w/ LT4 hotcam, JL-1 intake, and much more. T5 w/ g92 rear axle option etc. Interior and Exterior are in great shape. It was only 5k, so I couldnt turn it down despite it's various bugs (I definately feel a money vortex growing in its vicinity). It tends to stall in neutral (hot cam is probably partially at fault here), it leaks a drip of coolant, it started to overheat in yesterdays mid afternoon heat, and the drivers side seatbelt is locked up and wont retract. Im sure you guys have had experience with all of these problems, and I hope to have them fixed in the next few weeks. Regardless, It definately feels like it could run around 13 flat the way it's driving now. Here's the pic:
I live in fairfax, VA for the next month or so, but then back to charlottesville, VA for school. I'm debating on how exactly to fix this seatbelt problem. Either the dealership or a boneyard... This car is definately a lot of fun, hopefully I'll be able to make it a reliable daily driver. What's the deal with this picnic?

If the coil mechanism for the seat belt is not retracting then its a pretty common fault. I have to tug on it a few times to get it to retract. I'm sure there is a service bulleten somewhere.
I think all the F-bodies use the same seatbelt system for the front, and you might just have to find one that matches your interior color.
If you can't find a part, contact Denny Bruns AKA "LFN AT U" on these boards and see what he wants for one. I'm sure he's got one or two somewhere.

Got a call from EB3 this morning .
stalling <- tons of carbon buildup in intake and short circuit in IAC and A/C
coolant leak <- loose hose clamps
fuel leak <- loose fuel regulator diaphram
Supposedly the car idles well and doesn't leak. Total cost of repairs was 400 bones.

(microcenter in background):No, I'm not one of those guys who goes around scaring the public with my burnouts. I just wanted a nice pic for my forum signatures. (I'm also aware that my caprice doesn't have positraction) I'd recommend some nitrous for that L03, you can run a 135 shot safely, and it really woke up my caprice!
