Find a way for my Camaro to keep traction in the snow.

Seriously, I might replace the t top headliner... order it from Hawks. Mine is looking pretty bad. I'm also going to get a set of wheels for it as well... I hope.

I may even be getting an LS1 4th Gen.... I hope for that as well.

If I bought the paint, would you paint my car for me? There would be $$ involved of course.

Nothing big planned yet, I am going to put a borla on the t/a as soon as I get some spare time. Hopefully it won't be too frosty.

If you guys need some paint pointers lemme know, I have been down that painful road a few times now.

Joe, what wheels were you looking at?

i have something big in the works that people on this board have been talking about for a while but no one has done. Whether i get it done depends on the amount of $$$ i can scrounge together. The car will be at World of Wheels in Baltimore the first weekend in Feb, hopefully looking really crazy

Depends, wheels pretty much revolve around budget constraints and personal style.

Also, what sizing are you looking at? I would assume you are planning on going 17" as you have 16's now?

The thirdgen zr1 style wheel is a great looking wheel in person, also very daily driver friendly as your car is. (i.e. no adapter maintainence, is a direct fit, and it's 8" wide instead of 9.5 so turning full lock is easier)

If you don't mind running adapters (safe and easy, just extra steps in maintainence) your choices open up considerably. If you really want to go wild on a budget, zr1's in 17x9 and 17x11 are smoooooth. I wish I could have gone with that, but requires some minor reworking in the rear metal of the car. It looks absolutly killer though. That, and you can't beat the traction/look of a 315 tire in the back! You can get a set from AFS for around $550-600 or so, then adapters should run you around $175-300 depending on where you get them. Tires are completly subjective, depends on what you are looking for and where you go.

For example, I bought four bfgoodrich gforce t/a 275/40/17 with about 4k miles on them for around $320 shipped from ebay. (For the WS6, the camaro has comp t/a's) You can get some killer deals on used tires, or you could just buy new. If new, I would recommend www.tirerack.com , their prices simply can't be beat. :hail:

Alternativly, the SLP zr1 wheels are a direct fit, altough you will have to run less tire as the wheels are more narrow. A 245 or 255 series tire is what you would want to run on an 8" wheel. On my 9.5's, I have 285's all around, which rub slighty in the front with the wheels hard over. I have 2" adapters in the front, and 1.25" in the rear.

Also, if you are unhappy with your gear ratio, then that opens up some other possibilites. You can score a used fourth gen rear for cheap, typically with disc brakes/posi/good gears, and then not have to buy rear spacers. The 4th gen rear is a direct fit.

Hope this helps some and lemme know if you have any other questions!

Well, looks like I will be collecting parts to be installed in the spring, right after I have it in a frame shop...

Unfortunately, I don't have a garage, so any outside work is going to be limited. I don't think the wife wants a 2.8L to 3.4 L swap going on in the middle of the living room.....

i have trouble painting other peoples cars ,i;d like to but i'm not that confident yet in my abilitys. theres alot that can go wrong, and usually does.. i can't possibly do any other cars til next summer when i put an addition onto my garage, but i can help you find a professional shop who won't charge you to much... yes they are out there,

good idea with the hawk headliner, thats where i got mine, kinda tricky tho if you got the overhead console in your car.

asfor wheels there's plenty that look good on iroc's, i have got my eye on th new cragar s/s , one piece all aluminum, comes in bling bling sizes to,

my plans for gettin a fourth gen got shot down when the wife decided to keep the 600 a month suv, ouch, also half my project plans went out the window

Sounds good. I'm like that when I fix other people's computers sometimes, so I completely understand. As soon as I find out some stuff with some finances, I'll hit you up for those cheap pro shops that can paint my car.

After thinking about it, the IROC needs paint more than wheels, so when I get some extra money, I'll get it painted first. Lots to do..... :lala:

Hmm, paint looked okay to me, but I guess I didn't look too close. I guess being the owner you tend to notice all the little things, I know that feeling. Anyways, you could always strip and polish your existing wheels if you want to do paint first. It sucks, is not fun, takes forstinkingever but looks great and is next to free.

Gee winter's here already?

Let's see -- start off by selling the 85 -- that will provide the funds to paint the 83 and get the original seats recovered. After that it's getting sold. Then I'll try to get the 86 running and tagged and fix the GTO's brakes.

Also need to fix the Geo and replace the tie rod ends and ball Joint on the Buick

I'll let you take a closer look next Saturday. Trust me... it needs paint badly.

Either begin collecting parts for the eventual 427 build up (whattup Tim! ) for the IROC or create a fund for a new Pro-Built 700R4 built specifically for the IROC's final incarnation. Either way it will be slow collecting as I don't think Santa Claus is going to be too good to me...

another winter plan that i got is to get a 87-90 trans am gta. i'e had 9 other fbodys but thatis the unicorn i can't never seem to catch.... i wanna get one thats in sad shape to build how i want, ex. crate motor maybe six speed , or auto not sure on that, i like doin body work so that isnt an issue. i got a spare interior in the garage, all i need is a body, not stripped of course, i'm thinkin about black or gunmetal grey with purple graffix on the front, .. if any of yall know someone whos got one or if you got one lying around gimme the 411 on it.. i got approval from the wife so thats the biggest hrtle to cross... i'm pretty satisfied with the camaro so now i need a new project to keep me outta trouble.. :werd:

LoL.

My project for the winter is putting a new interior in the malibu, along with a new motor/transmission/rear/exhuast/suspsension. Just a small project I guess.

LOL... yeah, I'm looking to thin the ranks out and get the 86 moving under its own power. Once they're gone, a v8 fbody is in the plans. I'd l;ove to put a 400 pontiac motor in one and keep the emissions stuff. I'd like to find/fix hop up a crssfire car, put FWD heads on one of these 2.8s,

All is about time and $$$... Neither of which is on my side

Just looked at a 87 z28. Has a 350 in it, has a few freeze plugs popped out of it, and the return line neck on the radiator broken off. Might be a nice winter project for somebody......

I'm also in for traveling down to someone's place to help them with a big project. Usually I find the day goes quicker even when you run into problems.

I need help getting the 86 Camaro to start (probably a distributor position issue), along with replacing the interior plastic and a couple pieces of hardware. But this weekend it's off to Conshohocken -- $35 all you can carry, $85 all you can drag!

Shorty's u-pull it. 4 times a year they have a pull-a-thon weekend. You can either pay $35 and everything you carry out is yours or (for the pros) pay $85 and whatever you drag out is yours. Saturday and Sunday.

I recommend getting there by 7:30 am on Saturday. Them inner city Philly people can strip and drag faster than anyone I know.

That's no joke! I used to live in the Philly area. You didn't want your ride to break down and leave it beside the road. You would come back and it would be a empty shell!

I think they might. Most guys will load everything on an old hood and drag the hood around the yard. I have to find another person to help with the "carry part as I now have to pull some body parts for another job.
