Weekly Third Gen Meet Bel Air / Churchville

Figured I would make a more official post to this instead of just posting on every event. Most of you know every friday we have third gen meets at the Rt 22 Car Show in Churchville right outside Bel Air. We usualy have about 4-6 third gens together at the show and make quite an apearence at the show and get a lot of attention. Be cool to see more of you out there

Damn, I knew I should have stopped in. I live right accross the street (really). Usually it's the same cars week after week. Didn't see any third gens on the fly by. Will you guys be there next friday? Maybe I'll slap the tail lights back in my bird and head over. I went over to the fullerton cruise in tonight (sat) and found acouple of birds. 89 turbo and an 86 T/A with a tuned port. I think I talked the T/A into coming up next friday. He's a member but I didn't catch his name. Black T/A with a notch back an RA II hood.

P.S. Are any of you affiliated with any clubs in the area? I've been looking for something not too old or *****.
Oh, make sure you watch the burnouts. The orginizer (The cruise letter) bans people if they peel in the lot. Seriously.

See ya there.

The orginizer (The cruise letter) bans people if they peel in the lot.
There's a reason for that.

Most cruisers like watching burn outs. But:

Doing a burn out when leaving the lot or playing loud music pisses some of the local residents off. Doing a burn out when leaving the lot, or still on the lot, is dangerous. It also pisses some of the merchants off. As they see it, we are all driving their customers away with all of the noise and smoke while parking in their spaces.

I have watched too many cruising venues become off limits because of the stupid actions of a few. If enough residents and merchants complain to the right people, we can kiss Campus Hills Shopping Center goodbuy also.

As I hear it, the ONLY merchants that want us to keep coming back are Subway and Food Lion. Subway has the highest single-store sales in the country on Friday nights, and Food Lion receives a little extra business also.

And remember, when renovations are completed to the old Ames store, that furniture store will be open for business. Better to start getting along with them now and cooperating as we are asked to.

Alan and Amy (CruiseLetter people) are ONLY banning the offenders because they have been instructed do to so. They are expected to keep order and keep the lot clean.

Yes, You all are absolutely right. As I said I live right accross the street. Every Friday at around 9:30 I can hear the big blocks wind up and peel out. I don't mind it, in fact I like the sound of power. I was just warning you guys in case no one had mentioned it. Some of my Older neighbors hate it though. I know all about the rules Alan has set for the cruise. I work with him at DIXIE Const. and see him 2-3 times a week. I was the one who clued him in to the empty parking lot on 22 after the Roy Rogers in edgewood on 40 closed down. I usually stop by most every friday to see people and check out whats new. I don't bring my car cause it isn;t as nice as some of the fully restored show only cars and I think it may look out of place. If more third gens were there however I might not be so out of place. Normally I ride my BUSA over. The kids like it. I'll have to look for you guys friday. Where do you normally park at? Looks like over by the drive thru or the dumpster corral.

See Ya There.

You wont look out of place trust me. We are usualy parked nearer to the building. I am usualy there first like I said if you look for the Teal Camaro you can see in the pics above thats me (Mike). Our third gens make quite a impression a lot of people look and ask questions. Remember this is the car the family men and women grew up with

O Rick I contacted summit about the shifter plate that keeps you from over shifting and such. Heres the link to the item on B&M

http://www.bmracing.com/index.php?id...bcat=4&pid=305

and heres the link on summit:

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...=KeywordSearch

At 46$ its a lot cheaper then a megashifter.

and heres Jegs if you prefer them:

http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...27&prmenbr=361

I would make sure you would state its for the 82-92 Camaro.

Thanks Mike! I forgot all about that.

BTW, Mike's right. NO car is out of place at this cruise! Even if it's not in show condition, bring it anyway. My IROC is NO show car by any means, but I love driving it. Just bring it, you'll have a blast!

BTW, I should be up there this Friday. I removed the steering wheel yesterday from the IROC and sent it out to have it refurbished, so I may bring another car.

Yah, who needs a steering wheel anyway. That's why they make vice grips. LOL.
I just fixed the taillight wiring so I'll be legal. Still looking for front tires for my new rims thoug. 245/40/18 is hard to find for a reasonable price. And forget about 255/40/18. At least I got the rears for a good price. 295/35/18 for $125 a pice sounded good. The bird might look funny with stocker up front and ROHs in back.
Oh well. Now if I can get around to washing it that would be great.

By the By you all know of any one interested in a new TransGo shift kit for the 700. I got it with the hopes of putting it in but still have not got to it. I'm thinking 5 or 6 speed now. Oh and a factory Wonderbar I don't need. One more thing a GTA 34mm sway bar I have left over. I can bring some stuff if any of you are intrigued. Did I mention GTA gold lace rims and formula 16x8 turbo aluminums.
See yall in the rearview.

Hey, can someone post directions for better address so I can mapquest this? I'm either headed to 75/80 Friday night or can bring the kids (car lovers!) and come to this if it's not too, too far.

I might have the '92 T/A convertible by then or can bring the purple Z28 -- or can find another driver and bring both, lol.

Thanks in advance for some directions...

Whoa -- I just looked up Churchville -- it's a bit too far for me on a Friday night. I wouldn't leave my house until 7pm, by the time I got there it would be 8:30/9:00...maybe I can meet some of you folks at one of the Westminster/Eldersburg gatherings.

Ignore steps 10 & 11 we will be on the left right after the College. If you come around 6 trust me you cant miss all the cars.

Sucks its so far. Nice to see more people showing interest

O yea Rick I have an extra steering wheel by the way if you want to borrow it just to come up or what not. Its a 91 with AirBag so you can pretend the AirBag works if you want haha.

I tried to sell it a while back as a wall decoration with realistic action when 12v power source was supplied but no one was interested

Great special effect!

I actually flat-rated the steering wheel removal because I don't have a steering wheel puller. Just removed the 6 torx screws and took the steering wheel off, so the hub is still attached to the column.

If needed, I have a Cavalier steering wheel I can put on there, just need to find a puller.

Thanks for the offer though.

I know too.

The numbers start to shrink in mid-October. Insignificant gatherings still go on in November.

FYI, we will most likely lose this cruising spot, especially when the furniture store opens. Complaints of burn outs and loud exhaust noise are coming in from the residents. Alan has admitted he can't police the lot anymore and Subway can't police it either.

But cross your fingers we can keep going there at least until the end of the year.

Sit tight, I'm sure Alan will find another place, or make it work at this place.

There is a Saturday night cruise spot in Hickory (near Churchville) where a few people gather. It's a Burger King @ Rt 543 and old Rt 1. Not a bad place but kinda dark.

Anytime there are houses near a cruise spot, there are complaints. But there aren't many houses near this Burger King, if any at all.

87WhiteROC is mostly correct. The cruises go on well into fall. They start to die off after the OC cruise in october though. The hard core cruisers will stay until it becomes heavy jacket weather.

The cruise spot by burger king is very small and the small number of people that go there fill the few spaces that are available. The nice thing is that the bar next door (big daddy's) has a deck with a live band that you can hear from BK. Although the bar has attracted alot of roudy bikers that wonder over sometimes in a drunken stooper.

Campus hills is the best spot around so far. Easy access, food on premises, well lit, large lot, highly visible to attract new people.

The only other place I can think of would be the back section of the new Home Depot parking lot in aberdeen. It has most of the above mentioned.
Alan has mentioned maybe leasing the former Ranch House/ Roy rogers and opening a small resteraunt type of thing mainly for the reason of keeping this spot. I bet he could make a boat load. Subway may not like that though.

I think everyone need to make the effort to try to keep this spot alive. That may mean picking up after the pigs too.

Well my

I remember when I went there in August, it was just me and Mike and we didn't even park with the other cars. Too bad I live so far away, looks like a good time now.

See above pictures.

There were a lot of contractor box trucks there and guess what! They where all white... since I have been staring at the damage it look like a more rigid surface hit it. Makes more sense. I dunno what you guys think?

They're still downloading.

I had to remove some other pictures (TGO Picnic) because I needed the space. Sooner or later, I may have to remove these pictures too.

Yep, come on cruisin' season.

As far as I know, they' re still cruising there. People start gathering there when the weather gets warmer, the CruiseLetter people start showing up in April.

As far as the pictures, I can burn a CD and give them to you sometime. I have no room for the TGO picnic for now, needed the space (temporarly) for something else.

Thanks!
