well, it isn't in stone yet but this is what I'm (and chris) thinking:

august 24th (for those who want too) hang out at chris's, party down, crash

august 25th, Amboy depot days car show at 9ish (cars still roll in late) but the show goes til about 3:30-4

this is about all I got, we can have cruises and stuff like that at night, or the ride to amboy the next day could be considered a cruise (go through dixon)

let me know what you think, and add to the list if need be, hope fully chris will give me some feed back

 

Well it's a go with me, if all of you from Peoria, Chicago area, De Kalb, Rockford and any other location within Driving distance, come on up Sat Aug 24. It's a fairly central location, I've got many acres of land and we can do whatever we want.
Cookout, Volleyball, Car Cruise, Party till late hours, It's all been done in my back yard many times before. The last party had 10 kegs and about 300 people. Although I don't plan on getting that carried away.
Give me some feedback and let me know what you think, you have 6 weeks of warning to make plans to show up.

Sounds like a plan to me. Which day is everyone looking at the 24th or the 25th? I think we should make up some flyers and put them under the wiper of any 3rd gen we see to try and get a BIG turnout.

I am doing the samething (well kinda), about 2 people have bought thirdgens in the last month in amboy, one has a late 80s bird with a fiberglass hood on it, he is in the middle of restoration (but looks driveable) and another is a 80s Z, I firgured I'd knock on their doors soon

I'm 6 miles North of Sterling, so it's a bit if a run to Wal-Mart......
Location: House address 29909 Penrose Rd. Sterling.
From Speedway gas station, go North on Freeport Road. From stop sign intersection at Lynn Blvd it is 6 miles to Penrose Rd.
Make left turn on Penrose Rd, it's first house on left AFTER old Penrose Store/House on Corner.
Look for Ford Thunderbirds sitting outside in driveway.
Circle drive, big yard, White 2 story farm house, Red Barn & Corncrib, etc.

I already have my Hotel room booked for that weekend.......

300-500 Transams, food, vendors, FIREBIRD ONLY swap meet, shirts, drag racing, Firebird and Transam Street cruise with all teh cars!! ****...... I cant pass this one up guys.. hehe

 

Mark thats right i forgot about that!! i wanted to go to that event too!! well looks like i have to make up my mind. that sounds like a hell of a good time but i would like to go to the meeting.

 

Okay guys & gals, we were hoping to time the event at my house to include the Amboy Car Show the following day, so it would be more worth the drive for some of you who live farther away.
But since that's still over a month away the date could be changed if needed so we have a decent turnout. I would really like it if Bluebird and Destiny could be here so shoot me a better date for everyone to make it.
The weekend before the 24-25th of after it will work for me.
Or we can just leave it alone.

 

Keep in mind everyone that the weekend after the 24th-25th is Labor Day weekend. It may cause more conflicts. Do we want to go a week earlier? We can just get together like we have done in the past and not tie it in with another event.

Let's make a decision and get the date set so we can get the word out.

today me and chris where at a small car show in dixon, and there was a flyer for a sterling show the last weekend of september, that would be a great "last meeting before cold/snow" so maybe we could all due the "chris house" thing then

but we do need a meeting in august maybe we can find a central show, or just hang out like last time

 

Well Vic, I may not have my car at that time (depends on your money situation)...but I will go with some people here.

 

The Sterling event sounds good for an "end of the season" gathering. How about an August event? We are in the last 3rd of July already and if we don't get something planned quickly, it won't happen.

I got the original group together in Rockford last April and Bluebird did a great job in June at Mathisen Park. Who wants to take a turn at planning something? If no one is willing to volunteer, maybe Bluebird and I can get something going.

The I-80 corridor seems like a good central location for everyone.
Quite a few parks closeby that we could meet at.

I'm still willing to make up a flyer, just need to select a date and a location! We need make a decision by the 26th so we can get the word out.

 

I say we still do this one, bluebird will be gone, but hey, he should make the next one, right? I will get the "Peoria guys" together and we will all drive up together. I get off of work around 4:30 or so, so we may not be up there until 6:00 or so on Saturday.

 

for thinkin' about changing the date to fit me and Mark into the plan,but I can't ask anyone to change plans for me.If i don't make this meet you all know that I will be at the next one(HOWEVER- I think that I will be attending the meeting that day instead of the nationals b/c i don't think i allowed enough time to plan a trip to ohio)So i am still up for anything that you guys toss at me for that weekend!!

I reworked the flyer and got it to a manageable size. Unfortunatley, I can't put it as an attachment because of the limitations on file extenstions. I have it as a word Document and a Power Point slide so let me know if you want me to e-mail it to you.

I haven't heard anything about changing the date so the 24th is the date I used. Let me know if I should make any changes soon. The 24th isn't that far away!

Hope you didn't get the MX model GeForce. Make sure you disable your onboard video in the BIOS as well. I thought you had a VooDoo 4? BTW if you want copy of Jedi Outcast I've got that... I almost never use it other than at LAN things.

 

whats wrong with the mx...thats what i got..the 64 mb ram one...pci..fine so far...and i got jk2 already

 

Nothing really wrong with it, its just the weakest version they make. Its notably weaker in all benchmarks than a TI series GeForce and if you shop around properly they're about the same price as a top line card. But hey, if it works it works.

 

What time do you expect everyone to be there? I get off of work around 2:30-4:30.
