Hey ChickenFried I go to Ham Tech on the northside. Its great someone finally responded. Have you ever done any motor swaps? V6 to V8 in these Fbods. Ive already ran into some probs. I won't ask you to get dirty , just offer sugjestions. I live up by Menards and my friends only know about Gbods. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah I've done a couple motor swaps in my 86 and 91. I would be happy to try to help with any problem you run into. I can't think of any tips right now, but go ahead and ask when you run into problems. When do you plan on having it running? How does your car look?

I hope to have it runnin in a months time . I'm going to school at night now usualy work on it durring the day. The stroker is out of my 62 Impala. I've got a guy coming to by it this weekend. As for the condition of my Camaro I would rate it a 5 out of a possible 10. I bought it from a police auction in Muscatine for almost no cash. I've always wanted one and now I have a solid car to build on.

new update
It's a quarter after three and all I have left is the tranny bolts. So much for air conditioning. I don't think I really needed it anyway. Those V6's are stuffed way back in there. I'm going to need Doans pills tomorrow. I also want to pull the weak tranny while it's up in the air. I want some kind of reference when i'm hunting the boneyards. Still dont have any idea what tranny i'm supposed to be lookin for. I NEED INFO, SOLID INFO SO I DONT BUY THE WRONG TRANNY. PLEASE HELP!
What is wrong with air conditioning? I guess I don't understand your question. Are you buying a new transmission and want to know what kind you need? You probably have a 700 r4 if that is what you are asking. Its 4:30 in the morning so maybe Im a little slow right now.

unless the 700r4 is built correctly it wont stand up to a 383 very long.
u can have my blown up 700r4 it only got 1-2 3-4 are gone. i live in the macomb area which is about an 1 1/2hr-2 south or so. depending on how u drive

Well I have the motor and tranny out now. It came out at about 5 am this morning. Need to go to Auto Rons and order my headers and distributor. Do I need shortys or longs to make fabrication of dual exhaust easier? Give me some opinions.

dual exhaust
Well I think im goin to put the headers on and then convince a shop to do the rest . 3 inch is what I want to have put on with flowmasters . I dont think clearance will be a problem because im not going to lower it.Im lookin for a real mean sound.
Ground clearance is going to be a problem. Over the axle is going to be a problem on the drivers side. Mufflers are going to be a problem if you mount them in back behind the axle. If you mount them before the axle you'll have more of a ground clearance problem. Talk to your muffler shop. I'm not trying to bash your idea, just some advice.

I have had very good luck with Leonard's transmission 2-700r4's, 1-350 turbo, 1-t56, 1-nvg4500 and my brothers fiero trans (he has a 300 hp 3.8 supercharged). I use VR muffler for all of my exhaust work he does very good work and builds some strange cars. I am glad to see others from the area are also on this board. If any body is looking for parts or ideas send me email. I am hoping to have my new strut mounts machined and brembo brake kit installed before it gets warm out. I just got it back from being painted and have done a ton of work to it over the past 2 years while it has been sitting.

I am on my 3rd one, 1st was a 85 ta ws6 with the factory recaro seats (burnt to the groun in 92) 2nd was a 87 iroc ( crashed in 95 in high speed pursuit) now have a 90 camaro 355 t-56 ( was a 2.8 auto). I am pulling the oil pan this weekend to change the pressure spring in the oil pump and put in a different windage tray on. I also would like to finish putting the serpentine belt setup on. In the past 2 years I have only driven my 1 time to the body shop and back home.

Well a buddy and i were coming home at about 2:00 am and we past a car at the crest of a hill that looked like a cop car and as soon as i went buy his brake lights went on so I nailed it figuring there was no way a taurus could could catch a warmed over camaro. At the bottom of the hill there is a t intersection so I made a left towards the Pleasant Valley post office. By this time I could no longer see anyone behind me but I stayed on the gas. Came to find out later that the officer did not stop at he intrsection and went off of the road and buried his car in the corn field. Now I was going too fast the needle was bouncing off of the trip reset button on the 145 speedo and came up over a little rise in the road with a big buck standing in the middle of the road. I lost control and came very close to killing the 2 of us in the car. My current car has a cage. You should see how much damage october corn does to a camaro at 140.

I don't recommend my dumb idea to anyone. I found out later that it was a bettendorf cop behind me and he had called ahead for Scott county sheriff to back him up. 9 tickets in 1 night 145 in a 35 and eluding a officer were the 2 worst. I ended up riding a bike for 1.5 years totaled a very nice camaro and payed a ton of money in fines and lawyer fees.

355ss that just rattled my brain. I totaled my 87 s10 blazer just outside Panorama Park the whole october corn reimbursed it for me except I thought I could keep on goin straight at my tee intersection. I was beginin to think I was the only one riding my bike around, and now I dont feel so bad. I have the licence back now but man it took forever. 2 years and I got a OWI from it too. Now I only drink when im happy:lala: And I dont even think about drivin.

BONUS
I picked up some v8 frame mounts today and when I was there decided to look around. I found the find of my lifetime, a 92 25th aniversary RS with the whole GFX still intact. Once again I swiftly ran to the office and worked out a deal with the manager. I am now the proud owner of the set nose to tail. Its startin to get hard to fall asleep at my house. This car is comin together fast and soon everyone will see the BLACK BEAST

Hey Kevin, What yard in Davenport did you find the '92 in? I need some random interior pieces, and perhaps a blister hood if it has one. Not to mention the rear hatch that is all chipped up, but not broken yet.

Stiers. Ive been goin to hicory grove. They seem to treat me well and usually have what im lookin for. the 92 still has all the parts you ask of, the rear hatch is mint condition with the 3 piece spoiler intact. Interior is complete. The GFX ,GFX mounts and bumpercovers are all mine ive already paid for them, just waitin for my generator to come back its out on loan. As for the hood it is toast.

always pull yourself
I never let the monkeys pull my parts. I want to get them in a condition I expect, perfect. All of those yards 355SS listed let you pull your own if you have your own tools. I just go to big reds and hicory grove because its more convenient for me.
