The Camaro is finally finished !!
It has been a long road, but it is finally ready, just have to
work out a few minor bugs. To bad it was to late for Autorama,
Mustangs Beware.

:hail: Nice looking engine. Excuse my ignorance what are the 2 large red items in the front is that for firing the plugs?

P.S. You don't mind taking care of my kids for a couple years so I can spend some money on an engine

Those are the coils. There is no distributor, coils are fired
thru a FAST E-DIST and (2) MSD DIS-4 Boxes. (1) coil per
cylinder. Independant spark timing an fuel flow to each
cylinder. 400 CID Olds Rocket Block with Buick Symeterical
port heads, Sheet metal intake, #'s were very large ! Both
with and without NOS. Plenty enough power to put a 3600 lb
car in the 9's on motor with the right convertor and low 8's on
the bottle.

It has plates, reg, insurance and is driven on the street. I must agree also, it therefore is a "street car".
To me, if it has plates and is driven on the street, then it is a "street car".

how long before that "street" cars vacuum pump goes out? i thought the time frame for those wasn't very long making them pretty much a track only item.
and i would consider it a street car if the vanes didn't wear out sooo soon. I was under the impression you couldn't pull 1000 miles out of one of those ?

You take the belt off the pump for the street. I will not
be making many 8 sec passes on the street. With the belt off
it does not spin, 0 rpm=unlimited miles. The pump does not
have to turn to run on the street. The stall speed is more
of a limiting factor, than a vacum pump. ?????

Nice car - looks great. You must have some big $$$ in that Rocket motor - not cheap to build, especially with Buick heads, lots of custom parts/pieces. Hope to see it around some time this summer. I mainly take my car up to Ubly, but will be going to Stanton some time soon for licensing runs, and will probably try Milan again, now that I've heard they finally fixed their launch pad.

Thanks, Ye$$ I have quite a bit into it, luckly it was spread across 5 years and I have an understanding wife ! I am still trying to work out some bugs, I am sure you know how that is. I am sure I will run into you at Ubly, Stanton, Milan or even Norwalk. I will not spray the car at Ubly, 10.5" tire. I am going to keep the spray to tracks like Stanton or Norwalk. Still have to figure out which convertor to run, the NOS is to tight for motor but the motor
convertor will be to loose for the spray.
Motor or Spray
Motor or Spray, what to do, what to do.........

what stall are you looking at running? i know you have a huge tradeoff there whether or not to buy a stall on/off the nitrous. we just changed the one of my buddies' shop car to a 4400 stall down from a 5000 stall because of the future nitrous runs. it's going 10.90s out of a 355 with topline iron heads right now, all motor in a 80s monte carlo. still has the leaf spring suspension too. pretty amazing for what it is.
I hope you didn't take my "street" comments as offensive, just have had bad luck with those pumps, never considered just removing the belt on them ever,

To run on motor alone, the stall would need to be around 5800-5900 RPM. Currently I have a 4000 Coan NOS convertor. The 60'
times are suffering. I took the car out for a few shake down runs ran 1/8 mile 111MPH with a 1.83 60' ! turned car off at 1/8 mile to check plugs, coasted the rest of the 1/4 mile and ran 11.50 at 70 MPH on motor. We are going back out this weekend to get everything dialed in before we spray it or change the convertor.

Coan built the converter for my car also. After I built my big block I fax'd them a copy of my dyno sheet and gave then the complete specs on my car. They did a great job at getting me the right converter. I got my car in the 1.2's for 60 ft's last year, once I got some decent tires. Since my engine is a relatively low rpm torque motor, it's only a 2800-3000 stall converter. It is very good on the street.
It looks like you'll have to compromise your converter selection between using/not using NOS, but I would lean more towards a dedicated NOS converter for peak performance. Coan will adjust the stall in one of their converters for a small fee, but the stall increase you're looking for will probably need a smaller (8") diameter body, thus a totally different converter.
Ubly hooks good for me, although my car has been back-halved. I ran a 9.54 there last October (50*, overcast). It's the short shut down area that's my only real gripe!

Nice picture !! The converter I have was made by Coan from the NOS dyno sheet. The problem is this, I really have never driven a car this fast and want to work my way into it. Therefore I was thinking about switching to a 8" motor converter. This motor made crazy HP numbers on the spray and was designed and built as a spray motor. Minus 750 rpm stall for every 100 shot, with that theory the converter should be perfect for NOS. The converter is ready I am just not sure that I am !! ~ Jason

What do you want to know, the only info I will not disclose is the cam specs, so don't even go there. Just ask me some questions.

where about in s.e. are you, you should bring it up to one of our meets or some of the local cruise nights if it's streetable. i'd like to see it in person.

Yes Eli built it with alot of help from myself and others, tuned by John Meany. I am sure I will see you at quite a few shows and or tracks. I usually attend Mt. Clemens on Wednesday's. It is streetable but just barely !!

John Meany invented and holds the patent rights for DFI. He started FAST. John created and sold the rights to the FEL-PRO Speed Pro computer. John is known as the "GodFather" of EFI. You should see his new stuff. He has started a new company called "BIG STUFF 2". Eli could tune your car with his eyes closed. He is not good at scheduling but he is very good with EFI.

John Meany = EFI guru. He's put the tune to quite a few 6 second "street" cars. I wish I could afford an EFI set-up for my supercharged engine right now, let alone have Meany tweak it to perfection.
sleeper when parked maybe, can't have 1200 and not be noticed.

well i looked up eli and his number is disconnected which seems to be typical of the stories i've heard. i'll be honest i've never heard anything nice about him over the 1,000 or so stories around town however if you have had good luck with him and would be able to help me out in some way by getting me in touch with him i would greatly appreciate it. maybe he could help me get in touch with this john fellow as i could really use the tunning help.

I do not think it was as much Eli as the people he was dealing with. When he tells them what parts to buy, they either dont buy them or can't afford them, and they tell him to put it together anyway. They have problems and blame him for it. Speed costs $$$ and to do it right costs even more, if you dont have the money to do it right, watch which mods you do. People should not blame someone else for there own problems. Eli's cars fly, when they are done right. Also S#$T blows up that is just how this sport is, and if people cannot accept that then maybe they should be golfing or something. Send me a PM or an e-mail. j.glezman@comcast.net. I do not want to start to hand out phone numbers on the internet. Where are you located ??~Jason
