9 bolt rear for trade

I have a 9 bolt rearend with 2.77 posi rear disk out of an 89 Iroc (yes that means 28 spline axles) that I would like to trade for a 10 bolt 3.73 posi rear disk rearend. It is still on my car so it would need to be taken off I would need some help so that would also be part of the trade anybody interested? I am in Kenosha Wi.

Keep the 9 bolt. Its stronger than the 7.5 10 bolt could ever be. You can get some different gears in that 9 bolt and your set.

How about a 3.73:1 rear, 10 bolt from a 1983 (yes that's 26 spline) one-legger with an axle that vibrates slightly?? ahem......

No matter what, 9 bolts are still sronger, its been proven. I have had horrible luck with 10 bolts and so do many people I know that actually make significant power. hell, If you want my old 10 I'll trade ya, but it is only 2.73 and its drums and a one wheel wonder. You can convert all that cheaply enough. Just trade your backing plates and disc brackets ect with the 10. Finding an aftermarket posi unit for a 10 bolt is better than a stocker anyway.

how about my junk car, with 3.43's 1 wheel power wonder in the back yard, with hard core drum stopping power, u know u want that, Hey its even an 89, it'll match the year of your ride. You know the number...keep the 9 bolt.

I want to get rid of the 9 bolt cause I dont have the money for the new gears for it so I just figure I will trade it to somebody that wants a stronger rearend cause for now I dont need the stronger one yet and I just figured why lose the posi and disk brakes as long as Im going for the weaker rear I might as well keep my creature comforts right? Now do you guys see why I want to trade? O-yea and the 3.73s well that should explain itself!

I have a 1986 Trans Am with a 9-bolt. It is also a 2.77 and I wanted to put a bigger gear it. I thought about what you were thinking, just trade someone there 10-bolt for a 9-bolt but after When I was looking for an axle I noiced that a lot of people liked there 9-bolt and it being strongher than the 10-bolt. I called summit and they told me to call Randy's Ring and Pinion. There website is www.ring-pinion.com I got a 3.73 ring and pinion for a 9-bolt for about 170 and I am having a shop put it in for 300 so thats is about 500 for a rear end so I get to keep my disc brakes, not deal with all the hasles and still get the gear I wanted. Sorry if this is not what you wanted to hear, I was just telling you what I did. You can always check out Ebay sometimes they have read ends there. But my advice to you is just buy a gear from Randy's Ring and Pinion
