machine/speed shop in michigan
Hey guys,
Does anyone have some info on a good machine shop the does high performance engine stuff? I'm looking for one in either the Lapeer/Flint area or the Grand Rapids area. I'm looking to build a nice 350.
Thanks,
J.

Two words...Performance Engineering! They are a top notch shop that I NOW have all my machine work done at. I have had work done in other shops around the area but I have not been as impressed with. And to top it all off, they are nice people...go figure
They are located in Jenison and there number is 616-669-5800
Check this out, I had a clutch and flywheel balanced by them last year....when I got the pieces back home and took them apart, I realized I had made a mistake and two of the bolts I used where shorter than the rest. Being the **** paranoid person that I am, I called them up and asked them if having the two shorter bolts would throw off the balance enough if they were not re-installed back in the same holes...they said they probably wouldn't worry about it, but if I wanted it rechecked, they would....so they did and it was off by 9 grams...so they rebalanced with equal length bolts. They didn't even charge me for it....and it was my mistake! How's that for customer service?

There's an old guy with a shop by grandville, he does high dollar race engines, if your into that I could give some directions. You prolly don't need anything that extreme though, most of the engines I saw there were over 5k in parts alone...
On another note, Austin Jordan treated me well when I went there. Not sure if i'd have a performance engine done there as they beleive knurling valve guides is okay vs. installing new bronze on used heads. They did help me out though, even though they were swamped and took time to mill my heads, install screw in studs and vacume check the valves because I had to leave for a car show the next day!

Hey guys has anyone heard anything about accurate engines? Its on 44th street in grand rapids. Their prices are a lot lower than performance engineering and I was wondering if they were cheaper for a reason. ie bad rep.
Thanks,
J

Alright, thanks for the advise. Cash flow around these parts is a little slow so i'm tryin to make the best of it. I probably will go with PE.
Thanks,
JJM.
