Anyone else get a new speeding ticket today?

I got my first ticket today since 2003 doing 51 in a 35, which makes my 2nd ticket ever. I was clearly speeding, and caught on video tape so only way I could contest it in court is if cop doesnt show up. I used to be mad at the cops that gave me a ticket, not anymore.

I was perfectly fine getting the ticket today because I was at obvious fault, the $75 cost I dont care about, but what pisses me off the most is how 1 ticket is going to increase my insurance rate by 100% I don't think its fair since I never once had a claim and only got the 2 tickets in a 7 year period (23 now).

Now that I have to pay that much more it completly changes what I can and will do with my thirdgen, and pretty much leaves me unable to afford another car even if its a POS 88 Honda Accord. I won' t be able to even have a fast car for a very long time, most likely not till I'm in my 30s. If I get one more ticket my daily driver will be the bus or the bicycle.

Please someone tell me they got more tickets so I don't feel so bad.

oh yeah, i have gotten more tickets, 5 regular speeding, 2 speeding in excess, a reckless driving, and i just got a "reasonable and imprudent speed" ticket after my accident(not my fault).also 2 driving while suspended. mostly right after i got my license, of course i lost them once. but now at 25 i pay for showing off to my buddies. i am considered "high risk" to insurance companies. don't feel bad. you could have my driving record.

Wow Davey, that is quite a record, although I bet you had a significantly faster car than I and couldnt resist. I know I couldn't resist the urge myself. For now all I get to do is look at fast cars. Funny thing is I'm notoriously a slow driver, mainly because v6 is well underpowering. I just felt like seeing what car could do with open space and went for it and got caught.

Now I'll be driving carefully and slowly again till im much older.

And you're right, could be worse, I could have your record .

well atleast someone else feels better about my screw-ups lol. yeah my first car was a '83 305 berlinetta. not the fastest, but it got the job done. especially when all my buddies had 4 cyl beater cars. but what's done is done. all you can do is move forward from here, and just put the car on the back burner for awhile, that's what i'm doing. i can't afford the insurance on my '84 so while it's off the road i'll take my spare change and do things periodically until i get the chance to get it tagged and insured.

well try a 98 in a 55 and see what happens--Like the officer said to me, "if you can do the time don't do the crime." I would just pay the fine because up here in MN if you do that in our towns where the speed limit is 35 they can lock u up for a while and give a heafty fine==so good luck, SORRY ABOUT THE INSURANCE IKNOW IT SUCKS
take it or leave it

the fact is It just sucks

Isn't it "if you can't do the time don't do the crime."

The school cop said Insurance is the biggest scam in the U.S. because of the lack of a ceiling.

just keep it cool, once you hit 26 your rates get alot cheaper

I used to get tickets ALL the time for stuff I never did (small town- you know how that goes) and when you do stuff never one around

and of course once I moved I have not gotten a single ticket "knock on wood" (whats that say?)

anyway mine was really bad lost my license, racing ticket once and so on. when I reached 25 or 26? the rates dropped a bit.

you know the dumb thing in WI? they make it very hard for people like you (2 tickets super high rates). and yet you don't need auto insurance in this state. now just how many guys with really bad records do you think have no insurance and are on the road ready to take some one out?

and then look at the DUI people who get the slap on the wrists? but, they will do everything they can to street racers! really arn't both deadly? I guess if our officals were racing as much as they drink and drive the law would go in there favor then

I've been pulled over 20+ times and gotten 6 tickets and three wrecks, only one was my fault and i was the only one involved (rain + country roads+ speed = BOOM). I even got caught doin 110 in a 55 and got out of it. And I only have 1 on my record cause it was outta state. My wife keeps saying I'm gonna get busted bad one day,But until then.

ha...i may have you all beat, i have over a dozen accidents - BTW only 2 were my fault - i have a speeding ticket for 78 in a 55 (tried to race a state police camaro in a 85 cutlass with a V6, didnt know it was them), 51 in a 35(i was tired and wanted to go home and the lincolnwood cop was going the other way, i could of taken off, but again in the V6 cutlass), blowing a stop sign(late to school), running a red light(it was slippery and my dads car didnt want to stop without sliding sideways, so i just kept going), damage to private property(knocked over some mail boxes out in the lasalle county boonies the pan hard bar bolt broke in a gravel turn and the car got loose), and i only have one on my record the damage one because the state of illinois has safety classes i took for the other 4 which clear them off my record.....but those were all when i was a bit younger...i am 21 now, and the last ticket i got was almost 2 years ago now, and my rates are slowly going down because of it, so dont feel bad cause from here on out it only gets better if you look at it that way!!
