sell the '82 and buy my IROC with a 305

just kidding man. i dont have one but i know there are a few on the boards

 

Ive got one out of my 86 i've been holding on to.. Comes w/ Waterpump, balancer, Longblock w/ oil pan, baseplate, 700r4 flywheel, and a crank V belt pulley... $200----> OBO! OBO!!!!.. 126k miles - burned a little bit of oil- had 2 add about a half quart a month...

thats really pretty far away though
and imho for a 305 like that i dont think i would go with 200 unless the problem was all in those heads and there was not much lip at the top of the cylinders and the bottom end was fine

I am pretty sure that the oil was just probably from the valve seals leaking. There was NO mechanical "noise" from the engine at all. It ran great for me, started 1st time every time and i never had any problems with it till i pulled it. If it hadnt burned oil it would still be in the car. that is the only reason i yanked her out...

If you just want the shortblock we'll call her $100 and i'll strip everything off of it?

I have a rebuilt 305 HO from a '83Z with under 5K miles. .030 over, moly rings, Speed-pro hyper pistons, new bearings etc. Carb is a rebuilt (AZ rebuild) with DR rods and B hangers. Have ECM harness a computer too. Also comes with Weiand Action+ intake (emissions legal). Has Crane Compucam #2040. Heads gone over and teflon oil seals installed. Didn't burn a drop of oil. With headers and catback was VERY strong runner. PM if interested.

 

that would probably be ok and such but another problem is that youre all the way down in southern IN

Yeah, i can load it in a truck and for another $50 i will drive it on sunday to Toledo and meet you there.. If you have a truck of about the same height as a 95 chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 we can just slide it across on a couple of boards or something.... I really need to get it out of the shop before school is out..

No problem. I have the original intake, cam etc. also
Other than the intake and cam, it's a factory L69...I'm picky too! This one may be in better shape than you're looking for. Good luck!

LOL- No man- haha.. get on mapquest.. your about 4 hours away from me. Vincennes, IN 47591 and from the way it looked Toledo, IL looked about half way where Interstate 70 passes through it then goes to Terrehaute IN..

I need to know by thursday night, so i can get the motor out of the shop on Friday and to make sure i can get the truck for friday too.. Like i said- i can meet you and deliver it on Sunday, just let me know what all you want on the motor.. I've got people wanting other parts off of it,but i told them you were interested in atleast the shortblock so im fending them off lol.. Thanks

hey guy- i told you i would meet you in Toledo IL. it seemed like it was about half way for both of us..that would only be around a 4.5 hour round trip for both of us..

 

Now have found out that there is 2 possible 305's for you. One is just a block, with crank and rods, (needs rebuilt). The other is bored .030 with kb pistons. Either one is available. Would be willing to do some trading if you have a decent set of heads for a 350.
