Tinting in PA
I am looking to get my RS tinted. I want it as dark as possible without getting pulled over all the time. I was wondering what the laws were here in PA. I am willing to break them a little bit but not completely ignore them. What are your recommendations for the %s.
For the back I would go 5%, the sides on mine are 20% which because of the light getting in from t-tops its a dark tint but can still see in a little. 35% If you just want to knotice theres tint on the glass. But thats just my $.02.

In Illinois, we are not allowed to have any tint on the front side windows but we can't tint the hatch as dark as we want. I went with 5% on the back and 20% on the sides. So far, no one has said anything to me about it.

Let me clear this up! Any tint unless factory is illegal. I know ppl will try to dispute this but it is true. I will quote it word for word if anyone wants me too. I don't know how other laws are in diff. states I just know PA. I have my windows done on my Z and will also get them done on my vette when i find someone worthy enough to do it. I would go 20% all the way around. Remember, a majority of cops will not pull you over simply for tint ( unless being a ***** ) they use that as proble cause for other violations, i.e. DUI, etc!!
my iroc was tint from the last owner, its petty dark he did the side window and the hatch, the cop stop me one day after i walk out from a store and get in my car ( he was waiting for me )but he let me go and told me to rip them out
i was like
"yeah yeah yeah"
the cop was on his foot power bike.

Ok guys ive been wanting to get tint, but the PA laws are pretty -f-ed up (70%). So my question is, what could they do to me if i get 'caught'?? Like how much is a ticket, or can they like make me fail inspection?? I ask this because my uncle had his M3 tinted, and it just failed inspection in NJ because of it.
I probably wont be doing mine until after next winter when I have alot of money saved up, but I'm gonna go 20% all the way around. I don't to go 5 in the back because then it's near impossible to see out it at night.
Easy!
Well, I know if you go to the doctors and get them to make a note saying that "you have eye sensitivity" you can get your windows as dark as you want and the cops cannot do a thing!

This is regarding Title 75 Section 4524 (e)(1)
This is the actual LAW passed by the PA Legislators in response to the will of the people. If an officer cites you, this is the law that he will probably accuse you of violating!
TITLE 75 Section 4524 (e)(1) of the Pennsylvania Common Statutes states that
(1) No person shall drive any motor vehicle with any sun screening device or other material which does not permit a person to see or view the inside of the vehicle through the windshield, side wing or side window of the vehicle.
Note that the law only prohibits tinting which prevents a person from seeing or viewing the inside of the vehicle. It does not prohibit all tinting or tinting below 70%. The Law therefore implicitly permits any tinting which does not prevent a person from seeing or viewing the inside of the vehicle.
Note also that it does NOT say that a person must be able to view the inside of the vehicle, only that the tint cannot prevent a person from seeing in. (no one can see into a vehicle at night, even with clear windows) Also the way the law is stated it is only requiring that a person be able to see the inside either through the windshield, side wing OR side window. If the word 'and' was used instead of 'or' it would require viewing through all of the mentioned windows.
Seems like it's a big time grey area. Just food for thought.
