Moving to NJ!

After a 12 year "road trip" to Colorado, it looks like I'm finnally moving back home to the garden state.Just wanted to say hi to all of you. I do have a quick question.I've been working on my car the last month so it would make it x-country and I just got it to pass emissions here(colorado).Do you guys in NJ just have emissions testing now or do you still have to go to inspection stations where they test emissions and check everthing on the car?If so how much does it cost?

I lived in Ft Collins for 9 yrs - also a temp road trip! My sister still lives there.

You have inspections in NJ. You can go to a state facility and it is free - or a private garage and I think it used to run about $75 (never done that). They do test emissions at both.

Where in NJ are you headed? Check out www.nethirdgen.org. There are a whole mess of us from NJ (PA, NY too) over there and we get together constantly.

Welcome home

Thanks RED. Ft. Collins will definately be a tough place to leave but my mom has been having some health problems so I need to move back. It's gonna feel great to be back home. I'm going to be working in the Watchung area starting in march.Unfortunately it's very expensive there so I'm going to be checking out living a little further west of there around Bridgewater or mayby even Clinton. I'll check out that site you mentioned, thanks for the info.

You can get it done by a garage for $39.99 average price unless you go to the state witch you are going to fail you for anything and everything

Hey, welcome to both sites! Man, I should really check out this site more. I miss out on all the new NJ guys.
As its been said before, yes we do have State run inspection stations, and then you can go to a private garage that will do it for a fee. There is no visual inspection and coming soon any car with OBDII just needs to have the ALDL scanned and if it comes up clean, they are free to go on emissions. Damn 4th gen bastages. plop in 2 O2 simulators, and your done.
Ive been charged $50 at my shop, and then the guy charged me $25 to reattach my EGR vaccume hose on my beater car....
My camaro ran clean.
