Mechanical Aptitude test?
Hey guys, I hope this is the right forum to post in, but I'm not sure. Anyways I'm from long island and I'm going to be going to Lincoln tech (queens campus) next semester, in order to go though I need to pass a mechanical aptitude test. I've been searching online for ways to study it and what types of questions are going to be on it but I'm just drawing blanks. The councelor at the school isn't very helpful either b/c he doesn't know what is being covered on it, but all I know is if I don't pass it, I'm not going to be able to go to the school. I pretty confident that I can hold my own with having to do wiht working with my hands and tools, and I've been working on cars wiht my dad/friends/by myself since I was 13 and I'm 19 now so I know more than the average person. I'm just nervous b/c I don't want to mess this up.
So basicaly what I'm asking is if someone can give me a summary on what kind of stuff is covered on this and if you know any ways that could help me prepare for it alittle better.
Thanks john
I'm taking the test this saturday btw at 9:30am

The purpose of this test is to see if you even belong there. Automotive repair isnt something you just wake up and decide you want to do, you really have to have a genuine interest and almost kinda live it to be any good. If you cant pass the test without studying you should try a different line of work.

I understand that, but I just wanted to get a feel for the test, and know what I can expect on it. B/c isn't it the same type of test a plumber or electrician would have to take as well?

jc- I'm not sure what entrance tests they have, but I don't think it will be too involved. If it was too hard, what would be the point in going to school if you aced it? I would guess that it is just some basic automotive knowledge.

i wouldn't worry about those tests that they offer. i am currently in school now and they accept anyone no matter what you get on the test. the bottom line is money.

i just recently graduated from the Lincoln Tech Indianapolis campus ( 15 month program in 9 months) anyways the test they make u take has little to do with cars. one of the questions if i remeber right asks you based on the picture which part top or bottom of a refrigerator is the coldest..... im serious lol.. i dont remeber one question that had anything to do with a car...based on what i saw there seems to be no way u cant get in based on all the complete losers that were accepted... just try not to be one of those people yeah and try to do the top gun internship program you will learn more in the feild working then anything in the classroom they teach you. and you get paid.... remember you get what you put in.....
hope this helps

Everyone has to start somewhere. If I had to take one of those tests before going to tech school, I wouldn't have passed without studying. That's why I went to school.

I'm a Volvo master tech and I like it a lot. Just recently got a new job at a dealership closer to home (previously, I was working in Virginia) so now I can save some money so now I'll probably like it even more.
