very nce man, thats good for a 305. i dropped my car off last night to get the roll bar welded in. Drove it an hour or so to get there and the car i think got decent mileage
Not sure how much i used tho, but it was 42 miles or so.
Should have the car back by monday night or tuesday night depending. Trying to race next weekend here

My dad said we couldn't go this weekend anyways because he's trying his hand at bodywork (followed by working on the camaro for a few hours). However, he said we're going up next weekend for sure. Are yo going saturday or sunday? Whatever day you go, I'll be there. We're also going to switch seat time if we can (is that allowed) so we get a baseline with me (crappy driver.. so i guess it's guaging my skill also) and with a very experienced driver (my dad, who swears he has driven over 2 million miles in his life. Can only prove alittle over 1mill though
)So, in short, I'll be there next weekend. Whatever day you (you all) are going up. Shooting for 15.5 @ about 90 personally, and my dad said he thinks he could nail a low 15. We'll see. I really don't know what has been done to the car because the engine and tranny are out of an 87, but he thinks it may be running alittle healthier than stock. We'll see!!

i didnt realize they are doing both days, i may go both. one day for nitrous and one day for n/a to see how low i can get on motor.
I'll have a cage by then so i can let it rip and be legal
bring it out and i'll bring my laptop with scanner cable to see whats goin on. If you could, try to order a moates G1 chip adapter with chips for 55 bucks and i'll set you up with some tunes to see if that helps

Cool. How many chips would you recommend and are these the ones?

I didn't see the kit at first. Those are the chips it comes with. That would be cool. I might be able to get them but not sure it they would be here by the end of the week. All i can do is try. If not then i can still play later. It would be nice to know whats up with the cam thats in the car.

!!!
It's ok, i got time sunday too. We'll play it by year/ear i guess. My gas isn't going to evaporate away in an extra 24 hrs
You should come down hotrod. I know $25 seems like alot just to go down the track, but it's for 5 hours, so its $5 an hour, and that seems like pretty cheap to be in good company with good cars having fun! (plus it'll probably cost more for food for 2-3 ppl than for the entry!) lol
quick question Orr, it's $25 per car correct? So say, if my dad wants to race he can just hope in and line up??

yes
25 to race a car, doesnt matter who drives. But one of you has to pay spectator fee of 7 bucks

I plan on being there. I planned for saturday but, if it rains, sunday is still open. I've done the 1/8th but haven't run the 1/4 yet so i'm anxious to see what it will do. I predict 13.90 if I can figure out the strange pinging when going into 3rd. I'm waiting for a friend to bring over his timing light so I can double check the timing.

Re: PIttsburgh
yeah when you pull in, they will charge the passenger 7 bucks for spectating and you 25 for racing. But he can race as well or even BOTH of you can go down the track at the same time. BUT one of you drives and the other is just watching either way so they charge spectator fee.
your free to go where ever you please once you get in. check out the place. go in the drag pits, or just hang out in the street section
hotrod, definately check timing and let me know. I'll bring my scan stuff and burner and we'll go from there.
I'll pop in my old L98 tune to see if that helps. If there is a cam in there it may be off alittle but that tune did run abit rich with stock injectors so it may lean out nicely with a mild cam

if my dad comes out and videos i'll tell him to get all the thirdgens he sees so we'll have a video either way
This is the last weekend so i'm shooting for best times. I may try to go full launch on spray to see if my 10 bolt is as lucky as 87 TA's and cut some low 1.4 60's and shoot for low mid 10's
IF it hooks. I havent really lately but i got new ET streets so the rubber is good

I live on Duff rd above the Dixmont site. My bird is blue/silver. One of the guys I work with has a green 92 bird and lives in Avalon. Not sure who the others are. Nobody I know anyway.

I think the official call is to head up sunday. tomorrow is a wash because of 100% chance of rain. Sunday only has 10% though, and conditions look really good. Should be a great day for racing.
Also, Orr, i heard sunday is "windy" with 20 MPH wind from the SW, so lets pray the track point NE (no clue really).

It's ok in my book. I'll do some preliminary tuning tomorrow. Plus when i got back just now i noticed my left front is going soft on me! i don't know if i ran something over or not but i don't have a spare on hand. Maybe the extra day is a blessing.

Re: PIttsburgh
see siggy for mine, although i let my dad drive for that run because i was missing shifts like a b****. I've never had that problem before, but then again i was never slamming em as fast as possible..
btw orr, my dad thinks the car had maybe a half second left in it with a good launch and driving it harder. I was shifting at maybe 4750 on that second run where i picked up a second in the last 1/8th, but he was shifting at 5500 and picked up another little bit in that second 1/8th, plus the 6 MPH. I think i may try next weekend too and shift at like 5100, along with being careful off the start. I think it's doable.
I think orrs best was a 10.72 at like 126 when i left, but as you can see in his next post, he bested that! and i think hotrod ran 14.1 or 14.2 at whatever.

Re: PIttsburgh
oh ok, i know a Lb9 with the L98 cam should be good to 4500-4600 rpm peak power and would like 5000 rpm shift to start. My L98 did 5000 shifts and ran ok.
best bet would be to go to pittsburgh and dyno it for 50 bucks 3 pulls. get a good idea but if your doing a build this winter, dont worry

Does seem like alot, but if it performs better than do it I guess. I liked watching the Vid, alot of nice passes by everyone. If I didnt work I would have tried to get out for ***** and giggles.
Hey Justin, are you running a 3" exhaust? I cant remember lol and want to know what kind of clearance issues you have. I pulled the 3" off of that Notchback for my car. I got from the Headers (Which I wont be using because of my 7 Qt Oil Pan) all the way to the tips for $25. The Cat is hollowed out so Ill reuse it and the piping is all good, but Ill prolly replace the Muffler and Tips with something I like. The spray paint on the ends are so I rememer how it goes back together lol. Also, not pictured is the Crossover Pipe which I may or may not be able to use with different Headers.
When it was on the car it was actually tucked up pretty nicely, and looking at the piping it looks like it only scraped in one little section maybe a few times.

I also got:
Gold 16" GTA Wheels - $90
Center Caps (Sat in the hatch new since 92') - $10
SBC Power Steering Pump, Cooling Lines, & Misc Brackets - $25
TH350/400 Driveshaft - Free
Single Electric Fan (Might not use) - Free
225/60/16 Tires for the 16" GTA Rims (Bought to use for fun in Spring) - $40
Black Trans Am Map Pocket - Free

Re: PIttsburgh
I got a 3inch ypipe into single 4inch
depending on your power and rpm, 3" with good muffler will work but i'ld get atleast 3.5 for most 400 builds. Again depends on power
