Engine advice

Hey all,
I would appreciate your advice for this issue. I am restoring my 1986 z28, and I am thinking ahead. I want to put a supercharger in it, and i want the think to perform high. Currently I have a 305, and I have heard that parts for a 305 are brutal to find depending on what it is. Should I stick and work with the 305, or should I upgrade to something like this? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/82-92...spagenameZWDVW

THANKS!!

Re: Engine advice

if you want to have a "higher performance" engine, go with a 350. how about emissions? the t-5 will probably blow, so you have some other upgrades to think about as well.

Re: Engine advice

buy a 350 block, buy some internals, heads, intake, carb, build it yourself or have a shop put it together. is the current motor tpi or carb?

A supercharger kit is more than that by itself...

$1500 is a good budget to do some bolt ons but not anything major or significant to the internals of the engine.

Re: Engine advice

haha yea, I saw some used ones that needed work for 1500. That is what I was looking for...then. I finally decided though. I went to the Summer Nationals today, saw the GM performance tent, and decided. I am going to buy a 383 from them, new and drop it in.

Do you think that would somehow be able to connect with my 5-speed or do you think ill have to buy a new tranny.

you will need a new tranny. a 383 will blow a t5 apart with ease. are you just going to buy a 383 shortblock from them?

Re: Engine advice

Yea thats what I thought. I am going to buy the zz383 from them, it has like 400+ hp to the flywheel, and high 300's to the wheels.
