I have heard of Northern Kentucky as well but I have not visited that web site. Glad to hear there are others close by like yourself,,,this site here is so spread out accross the country. Larry.

man, there used to be a ton of ohio guys on here..looks like there still are quite a few, but it makes me wonder what happened to the regulars that were here 6-7 years ago. I remember going to a few shows near columbus and having a GREAT turnout. The last one I went to was in summer of 2000, I had two Trans Ams...1985 (blue) and a 1989 GTA (red).
My life took me in other directions and I bought a 2000 TA later that year, and sold it two years later. Finally bought the GTA I have now late last year, so I made a return to thirdgen.org and I don't recognize ANY names...plus the board has gotten huge compared to what I remember it being.
Any Ohio guys still do the meets? I'm in Troy, near Dayton, and would love to meet up with some local folks.

Sounds great
It's a blast to put some faces to these names,,,but I am not aware of any meets. I am a regular at the Milford Friday night cruises, been doing that Friday night cruise for the better part of 20 years, long before it wound up in Milford.
I frequent Dayton quite a bit, I take my 70 Formula to the Trans Am Nationals at the airport up there, and I always participate at the Saturday drag races that Bruce Fulper puts on for that show, up at Kil Kare. I also like to take the family up to Quaker Steak and Lube in Dayton. Man I love that place. There are actually building one of those down here in Milford, supposed to open the doors next month.
Maybe with enough interest we could have a get together sometime,,,,Larry.

No Kidding
You are in Blanchester,,,,thats a stones throw away from me,,,I am actually near Mt. Orab close to St. Rt. 68. Milford would be a great place to meet,,,,should be starting that up pretty soon when the weather cooperates. I have had the Formula at the cruise many times, I don't think I have ever taken the Iroc though,,,,most of last year I was driving the Chevelle up there,,,,maybe you recognize it,,,kinda hard to hide with it. Welcome, TABBOO, sounds like an awesome car. Gotta get a pic up sooner or later.
On a different note, since it seems as though Ohio has a lot of activity on this ONE thread, and there is no real place for Ohio people to get on and plan stuff, or have multiple threads, has anyone tried talking to the mods/admins, about maybe adding another group for Ohio, maybe with west PA, southern MI, for us to get together and chat instead of posting on one LOOOOONG thread in the North East Region board? Just a thought.

Hmmmm
Ya I have noticed that too. Nothing really here listed for Ohio, and I think Kentucky and Indiana could also be included in our discussions,,,all are within a reasonable driving distance. It would be nice to have a get together once and a while in different locations. Larry.

Here in Elyria Ohio. I'm 30 min. from both Norwalk Raceway and Dragway 42. There are plenty of 4.6 stangs to pick on around here at night, so drive out here and beat on'em with me.

91Banditt,,,no kidding? I frequent tri-state often, usually on Saturdays for test and tune, most of the time I am there with my Chevelle though. I plan on being at Edgewater later today for the 4-speed shootout, racing old school style
I have a monza I race in the street stick class, tons of fun.
FormulaL98, I am at Norwalk once a year for the Ames Performance Pontiac Nationals, I plan on being there this year as well, it would be cool to hook up,,,I am always there with my 70 Formula over on the racing side of course
It's a great time, absolute blast,,,Larry.

HEY NE ohio guys.....
Tis the season for car cruise in's. Most are beginning to start up here in May. Would like to see some more fbodies in the works. For those that are near the Medina (West of Akron) area there are local cruise in's at Dairy Queen in medina every Wednesday, Yours Truly Restaurant every thursday. (I try to hit these cruise in's every opportunity I can) There are numerous more going on. These two are free, just cruise up and park, and enjoy some good food, and some good music. For more information on cruise in's visit CRUISIN' TIMES MAGAZINE - The Largest Cruiser Publication in the Midwest!. Set up for Ohio cruises and events. great site. Look forward to seeing more of you out and about. Any questions feel free to ask on here, PM, or email (dcurtis@zoominternet.net) or AIM..(dctrans) Yahoo messanger (modded1987gta).

Sorry, a lot of the cruise in's are free to attend (not just those two) that I have been to. If not they specify an entry fee.
Thanks
Thanks
Cruises
All cruises around here are free, if they weren't I really don't consider it a cruise, once you start paying even the slightest amount it's not a cruise to me, it's more of a car show.
I am old school though, most of us would hang at the burger stand and shoot the breeze, that was cruising back then and the way I prefer to do it now. Just show up when you want and leave when you want,,,,know what I mean? Most businesses are happy to ablige, they like the business.
We have a rather large local cruise here that is now in Milford, about 500 cars or so at peak weather times, I attend every friday night,,,it's a good time, we usually close the place, if anyone is in the area there are a nice variety of cars. Larry.

That is pretty much where I stand, I would rather go hang out with other local car guys, then pay to be in a show. More laid back, and most of them in the cruises are drivers, not trailer queens (no offense to anyone there). There is a big one every week in Brunswick that draws about 500+ cars every week (weather permitting) and all are free, with the exception of one or two a year. Most are free, with the exception of a few. I would just like to see more then 1-2 f-bodies there at these local cruise ins.
Cruises
That large cruise that you mention, is it near Medina? I saw that in your sig and that place sounds familiar to me. Sounds like a nice size cruise inn, I am always up for another cruise somewhere, a chance to see some different cars and people.
We have alot of F-bodies at our cruise in Milford, all different vintage though, as long as you are not stuck on 3rd gens, although several of those show up, there are many 1st, 2nd, and 4th gens as well, including me, I sometimes drive my 2nd gen firebird if I am in an F-body mood. I generally don't take the Iroc there though.
Sounds like we have alot in common. It would be nice to hook up this summer. With all the people on this board and here in Ohio I would think we could gather a large group of us somewhere? Just a thought,,,Larry.

Solon Ohio is my town, go to school at University of Dayton though
From what I hear I go a lot and one of the biggest car shows is here every week right down the street from me in the summer, about 10 third gens there every week not to mention the hundreds of other classics. I think its called "Cruisin the Commons" every tuesday when the weather is nice

I took out the engine and tranny together, because I wanted to work on the transmission a little too. I put a B&M shift kit in a while back and ever since then the 1-2 shift was a little too aggressive for me and I was worried about breaking something. So I changed from 'street' to 'heavy duty' by putting the spring back in. That should improve things.
One of my brother's friends has a 350 in a jeep, so hopefully I'll be getting that so that the TA can be back in commission.

Yeah, I'm in the process of prepping my Formula for a engine. Bought it without one so I figured i'd redo the complete brake system, paint the engine bay, clean everything up, run new 1/2" aluminum fuel line, inline pump, and mounted a regulator on the firewall... Still gotta do a lot of wiring for the carb setup... Hopefully i'll be ready for a engine in the next month, my part time hours at AutoZone don't really allow me to accomplish much since i'm stuck at a standstill without parts...

I'm trying to do mostly suspension work, but I keep having fuel problems. I'm considering a surge tank. I put in a walbro and now I it doesn't pick up fuel well past 1/4 a tank, even in everyday driving. I have to keep it at half or it'll buck even in light turns from not getting fuel. I have anothe mystery cut off problem I haven't figured out, so I'm getting WinALDL to try to pin point what's going on.Besides that, it's smooth sailing. sorta?

What pump (for carb) do you recommend. I was gonna run a Hollet Blue, except I didn't see a place that I could mount it back there.... If I fab up some sort of bracket I could make it work, but it might interfere with the rear end or suspension... I'm thinking about a universal inline electic pump (non-return style) from work... 78gph @7psi.. It'll work for the time being until I switch to fuel injection...
BTW, anyone out there have a good running 305 or 350 for a cheap price... Any old stock engine will work for now. I wanna concentrate on other areas first, plus the final plan is a small journal 302... I do have a good 92 Astro EXT Van for trade and a bit of cash or parts if anyone is interested. Otherwise, i'd like to get $700 for the van...

I am planning on using everything out of the GTA (inter, L98, 700r, 9bolt) and put it into either my 73 vette(not the rear), or build some sort of hot rod...to sell of course.....
Blackbird20: what did the car have before....if it was a throttle body, you can use the intake as a primer for the big pump, I did it that way in the other formula....works great.and you can mount the pump anywhere then..

A&W here in ravenna has a car "gathering" every saturday night. Most people start showing up around 9 pm. I went last saturday and there was a good turnout, probably 30-40 cars. I plan on going again this saturday night, if anybody wants to check it out let me know, we can meet up. if anybody needs directions let me know.
