Do any of you guys remember MATEOZ28

He lives (or used to live) in Fresno, CA. He no longer posts on thirdgen.org, but I believe he was a fairly active member as of a year ago. I purchased a (supposedly built up) transmission from him a little over a year and a half ago, but have just recently had the opportunity to actually use the damn thing. He claimed to have tested it before sending it to me, since it was a fresh rebuild, but the damn thing doesnt work. It keeps stripping governor gears and, as a consequence, I only have first gear. If any of you guys could give me a current email or phone number so I can talk to him about this, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Yea, I know that, lol. When I originally purcahsed it, I had intentions of using it a few month after, but stuff didnt pan out. I found his (old) cell number, hopefully he still has it and might be able to tell me what could be wrong with this thing. I really dont think he meant to screw me on the deal, he was very helpful thoughout the entire transaction, and I actually bought some injectors from him afterwords, and they work fine. Hopefully everyting works if I replace the governor gear again, and install a new cap (the original was damaged, but I repaired it before re-installation).

rust isnt the problem.. the clutchpacks dry out and fail.

Well, that isnt very cool. But would that cause my governor gear to keep stripping? The gear looks like an apple core after my tranny is done with it, the teeth are torn up deeper in the middle than they are near the edges.

I almost bought that transmission from him. He actually brought it down as far as san luis obispo when I called him and told him I diddent want it. If you do a search on some of his old posts he talks about how he was having a bunch of problems with a used transmission he boughtit, then all of a sudden he has some built transmission listed in the classifieds. It could have been a different one, but it spooked me into not buying it .

Thanks man. I'll see if I can get in touch with him just to let him know what happened. I ended up having to get my stock tranny rebuilt, hopefully this one will work for a while....
