Cool, hope it works out for you and we see you soon. Don't recall seeing your buddy out there, but then again I have not been to the track lately. Sounds like Terrell has seen it and may have it on video.

Either back window size or door window size, or both would be even better so we could have a choice.

I have the software to make the changes, but thats pretty common. We could edit those constants, and you could take away a cal and perhaps find someone with a programmer to create the chip for you.

whats the difference between prominator, and changing your chip, and actually burning new chips? do you get a wider playing field with burning new chips?

The PROMinator replaces the chip & socket in your ECM with a Flash memory chip - like the one in your digital camera. It is a PROM eliminator, hence the name PROMinator.
Remove the cover panel on my ECM and you won't see any chip or chipholder, just a Xilinx chip.
The big difference, is that the PROMinator is a single appliaction solution. It is fixed -- hardwired to my ECM. Whereas a if you have a handful of chips and a programmer you can burn cals for many different cars. Hope this clears things up.

It cost ME ~$300 -- but I went for the Pro version, and sent my ECM to Bill for installation. But you can order the standard version for $175. And in all honesty I've only used the feature of the PRO version (lets you switch bins without the car throwing a fit during upload) once or twice - its a nice to have, but definately not needed.

I've been reading the Prom boards for a long while now and hopefully I'll be diving in and purchasing the PROMinator/Moates adapter soon.
Alex - which are you using, Tunercat or pro?

Del - both the PROMinator and Moates adapter are great products, you can't go wrong either way.
I started out using Tunercat becuase it has the easiest interface for a beginner to learn.
Now I use almost TunerPro exclusively since the new beta version 4.0 offers integrated ALDL logging, charting and supports the PROMinator uploading, downloading and checking bins. I don't know if I could ever go back to the old way. TunerPro v4.0 will do in one program what you used to need 3 seperate programs to do.

Beautiful, that's exactly what I needed to know.
Do you have the Moates adapter as well, or do you not have a MEMCAL equipped ECM? I've forgotten your setup.
Also, where is the beta 4.0 available, I didn't see it on the site.
ah, n/m found the link, still being tested, that's why.

Nope, never actually tried the Moates adapter - though, from everything I read & hear Craig's delivers and awesome product and the support is everything one can hope for.
Staying TBI loyal ('8746 $61) makes it a challenge keeping up with you guys. The ECM originally had a PROM.

Xtronics Power Programmer w/ chips, AutoPROM or PROMinator = the hardware
TunerCat = the editing software, flavor A
TunerPro = the editing sofware, flavor B
Yes you need the hardware component and the software component. In my case PROMinator and TunerPro RT -- There is no TunerCat Pro. TC's software products are Tuner or Tuner RT.
TunerPro comes in two flavors as well. TunerPro and TunerPro RT.

Yep, the software's free to download and try out, you can download it at tunerpro.com and tunercat.com. You need a bin defenition file usually available at the above sites, and the bin file itself should be availalbe at either diy-efi.org or moates.net. I'd give you a better idea of what files your looking for, but I'm not sure which are correct for your setup.

Now your catching on
Nothing to stop your from downloading the software and files before you get the hardware. That way you can get familiar with the constants, flags and tables available to you.

When I started tuning I only wish I had someone local to answer quick questions and help me out with the details.
It occurs to me there are at least a half dozen of us in the area that are getting into tuning. Traviz, Eric, Will, Caddillac, Del, Myself . . . maybe it calls for a summer tuning pow-wow ?

Just to let everyone know -- I'm takin' off tonight for a much needed vacation for the next week. Any more decal orders will have to wait until I get back to be shipped.
