Sweet, glad to hear you finally have it. Can't wait to hear what she sounds like now, although anything is better than what it sounded like before.

after breaking it in now for a while, it sounds good to me. It's quiet, so basically no one else cares about it, but that's okay. I guess that just makes my car a little more original than all the others with a flowmaster. That appears to be "the cool" muffler from what I've seen because it's louder. I'm sure my car could be just as loud with a pair of headers.

I really like the sound of a Flowmaster. Some say the MagnaFlow flows better but is more quiet. What is your opinion about this Travis, and anyone else who wants to chime in? I am going to need a new muffler soon and may want to take you up on that offer Travis.

6 or 7 year ago popular hotrodding did a comparison between different mufflers and the dynomax flowed better than the flowmaster

I also heard that the magnaflow is better than the flowmaster and they do sound nice

my flowmaster sounded good with my 305 then when I went 350 it sounded like a truck thats why I changed the tips so it sounds better now

i agree flowmaster always has that deep sound that everyone likes, but face it, everyone has it now and its like *yawn* another flowstrapped vehicle. plus, though still better then stock, flowmaster are not that well at flowing compared to other aftermarket types. do something unique, and try something different.

I agree with being unique, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it. They are installed on so many vehicles because they sound good.

Ever heard Cheery Bomb glasspacks :PUKE:

I still think I am leaning to the flowmaster. I like the loud deep bass of it. Plus it will sound even better when I do headers and 3" exhaust.

Getting a complete exhaust, not just a muffler can make a big difference in exhaust tone.
I wouldn't trade my American Thunder Flows for another.
Keeping the stock 2/1/2 or 2/3/4 with all it's crimps and bends and pushing it out a muffler is not going to achieve the best sound out of any muffler.

Although I'm ready to hear your cars new sound Travis.
Wasn't feeling it before.
Louder isn't always better.

Travis, I know someone who would weld it on for you, cheap and do a great job. He would want money at the time of the welding though, let me know if you want me to hook you up with him.

I'd weld it up for you - but my welder isn't the portable flavor, and I doubt you'd wanna drive all the way down to fairfield and more than likely drop your exhaust to have it done. Probablly cost more in gas than it would for a shop to do it. . .

ever heard a chevy truck(newer one) with a flowmaster exhaust, it sounded the same it was deep but I didn't like the sound I had the run of the mill 3" chrome tips, high flow cat, stock I-pipe(the bigger one), stock manifolds/y-pipe

Hey Del, don't you have a 3" with headers and flowmaster exhaust? I know you have a 350 too, your car sounds deep and loud, I like it. I don't think it sounds like a new chevy truck at all. Are you happy with it?

Yeh, 3" from front to back. .. Hooker headers->Ypipe->full exhaust.
Never heard anybody say it sounds like a truck.
Again, don't just put a muffler, do it right.
Unless you are like Travis, and just want to bring the sound down.

Del, I plan to basically do the same setup you have. Although I may buy the muffler soon I don't plan to install it until I have the money for the headers, 3" pipe, and high flow cat. I will be doing it right and doing it once.

Not all of them are 3" systems.
A lot are 3"-2/1/2 and some are just 2/1/2.
The all 3" American Thunder is over $300 as I do recall.

Mine is all 3" except for the Y-Pipe under the oil pan. I don't see how 3" would fit as tight as 2.5", at least it's the Hedman Y-Pipe for my headers.

After that it's all 3" and I love mine, the louder the better IMO, just not open headers loud, behind my car loud so when I pass people they go deaf
