As far as a HP drain there is a minimal difference. Maybe 5.

However if it is rattling, the small "honeycomb" material inside has broken and it can potentially block your exhaust and cause a ping or other probs.

wrong board but ok

to be honest its not worth the power its really small amount that you gain, the hp vs the penalties for removing it is just too severe just replace it

with a medium to large size cat converter you can get a high flowing one on ebay for pretty cheap and have an exhaust shop put it on for 30 bucks usually

no why I would get a cat off ebay, get a REAL cat(magnaflow, dynomax, etc) and a cat out flows a muffler so the HP loss will be very low

How did you break it?
A common rattling is just the outside protective piece that can become loose.

oka weill i broke it when i was leaving m girl friends house and when i was backing up from the drvie way i hit my dual exhaust pipes on the asphalt and i noticed the noise like 30 seconds later at a slow speed. i am not going to fix it because i am going to put a 408 small block and change the whole exhaust system so i do not really care at this point does that make sense
