Are you talking to the wheels? If so I don't think you guys are even close.I think if it is to the wheels
Travis 220
Eric 219
Del 235-240
Vin stock? 210
Cadillac 190
Will 200
Me(might bring our 87 runner after new stroker motor 160
Alex's car with all his mods put down 243 to the wheels, which is 291 @ the flywheel.

hahaha if I was to bring my turdgen then I would say 175-205rwhp

I may take the vette so I say 300-320rwhp

travis eric what are you guys thinking you have hardy any mods and you in the high 200's no and im sorry I don't think a super ram/stealth ram is gonna give you 60hp I think a stock tpi(350) only puts like 180-190 to the ground

Travis@220-240(pre stealth ram)+15 for stealth ram
Eric@200-225(pre super ram)+15 for super ram
Del @240-265
Will@200-240(we're gonna see if the cross fire is resticting or not cause his motor is rated at 290hp)
Alex@290-310(wasn't his old tune dyno'd at 29?)

well i was figuring stock was 200at the wheel and with full exhaust and stealth ram(it will be on for the dyno) that its a good 80hp at the wheel. espeically with the timing and fuel pressure to play with. its been shown that just a stealth ram swap on an otherwise stock motor has gone 60hp over stock at 5200rpm.

Don't the l98's put out 225 at the fw?20% loss would put that at 180,+ the, say 60 hp would be 240 right?I don't think the stealth will boost it that much at all though,I could be wrong but...The stock heads still won't be able to push that much cfm through, and the cam?Why would Erics car put down so much?

2 things

drivetrain loss cut in half i have a 19lb flywheel, and my clutch is 22lbs a stock torque converter full of fluid is over 50lbs so less rotating mass, not to mention its a more efficent way of putting power to the ground.
and good old factory freak......

I think most stock L98's put between 185-200 at the wheels.
Every car runs different as we've seen.
But I wouldn't go by factory #'s and an exact 20% loss.
I would go more off the #'s you've seen at the track (MPH or ET) and calculate your estimate based on that and your weight to get a rough idea.
I see your point Steve on that seeming like gaining a lot from factory, but take Alex's car for example, 240ish at the wheels, running about a mid 14.
Obviously Travis/Eric are faster and will have even more power now.

Not sure who will benefit the most now from the diff. ram intakes, but I know they should have much higher #'s than me.
I have to give Eric the slight advantage pre-intake stage because of his mph.
He won't have to worry about not being able to perform like at the track, the machine will do all the work.

On that note. .. I think I'll be around 250 at the wheels.

Travis/Eric - around 275 (after intakes).

No point to guess others that I haven't seen any evidence of power yet.

1 month to go!

I'll be lucky if there are any numbers near 180 on my car.

Does anyone think we will have time to make adjustments between trials? I want to do two things: Compare ratings with timing at 8* and 3*. I also want to see what the stock PROM does in comparison to the new PROM.

Will that be possible?

260-270 hopefully. I might splurge on another mod before then though. Maybe I'll do a cam before it too.. seeing as now I have to replace my water pump

Tony, a lot of questions:
  • How long will it take to do one trial?
  • How long will they give us between trials?
  • Will we have to do all runs at one time or can we back out and try again after a spell?
  • Will your car be ready with a new water pump?
If we knew the answers to the first three e could estimate how long the day will be.

I'm not sure how long, but he said that starting at about 930, it could take up until 4-5 o'clock if there were a lot of cars, around 20 or so.

I'd imagine that it doesn't take too long.

All three pulls are at one time, but maybe if we talked to him we could do them at different times, but I don't really know why we would want to.

I'd imagine the dynos would be kind of continuous, one car finishes and the next comes on board. I'd imagine there will be a nice lunch break though.. that's where the BBQ comes in!

Yes it will be, and maybe a Lloyd Elliot cam. The WP is getting replaced next week. It'll also have a little bit of paint work done, including shiney tail lights!

I would expect the dyno to finish somewhere around 3-4, because I don't think we'll have quite 20. After that we can eat BBQ or go cruising or what have you! We'll decide at the dyno day what to do.

Not very accurate at all

it's mostly useful for tracking the changes between mods, the differences they make, rather than tracking actual HP/TQ readings.

How long will it take to do one trial?
From my experience it takes almost as long to get the car up the ramps, lined up, strapped down, and plugged in, and backed off as it does to run the load test. 20 mins if everything runs right, maybe as much as 30-40 when all is said and done because the engine needs a few minutes to cool after each test. There is only fan blown forced air cooling the radiator - so cars are notorious for overheating during a dyno. Watch those temps !

Quote:

No set time, maybe 3-5 mins. . . plenty of time for you to make a timing change, or recal your VE Adder tables at the least. For those of you who have laptops. DATALOG the entire session! It's invaluable info.
-Caddy and other TBI'ers : Watch those injectors, especially if your still running stockers - expect to run out of fuel (stop making power) around 4K.

Quote:

As stated above, it takes almost as much time setting up, and down as it takes to run the test, maybe more. So any changes are best done between runs.

If there are 16 cars -- averagin' 30 mins each. . . I'm callin the day goes from 9-5. And unfortunately, unless someone drives my car - I'm not making it. Prior plans are unescapeable.

-Good luck everyone.

Thanks for the info. Alex, I figured the setup was the most time consuming.
I figure there will be some flakes, so who knows, maybe only a dozen or so will be on the dyno.
Bummer you can't make it since we're actually near you this time.

Are you going Dizturbed?
. .. and it's 140hp. about 115 to the wheels, yah baby.

Ramair21 - what mods do you have to that tbi?
the dyno would show about 140rwhp if it was stock.

I got the open Element, Hooker header 2055, 3" cat back, shift kit, AC delco rapid fire, Taylor wires, corvette servo, fresh tank of high octane gas, 170* stat, 195 fan temp switch. Nothing really but it takes off when you open it. So maybe around 170 then if you think ill get 140 stock

I'm really hoping to see between 260 and 270 at the wheels.

What im REALLY curious about is my powerband, from a stock muffler'd LT1 dyno curve to my straight piped dyno curve. It will tell alot.

eh, its close - but no closer than Sac is from Fairfield. No sweat - when steve finds a car, and deezl is up and running we'll try again - maybe hit the one in Fairfield since it's literally right around the corner, also I'd like to see what the difference between the mustang dyno and dynojet numbers are.

I hear the mustang dyno's are closer to real world #'s than dynojet, which tend to be some what inflated #'s

Yeah I'm going, but I'm not going to dyno my car, it's still completely stock so no need since I never plan on modifying the 6 banger.

I'm just gonna run the 6 while I get the rest of the car sorted out suspension and cosmetic-wise, but money problems keep cropping up out of nowhere and killing my gameplan.
