your car is farrrrrr too old to have a plug in for a laptop.
My car is pretty much the earliest f-body that's Laptop tunable.

dianostics is different from tuning, and the aldl is what connects the car to the laptop and he should have one
I ordered a aldl interface off ebay a while back came with a couple programs to log data and burn chip but the website isn't working try searching the prom boards

i use datamaster it works great its the best hands down
but for tuning your gonna want something that has a faster refresh rate at with a laptop you can only check 10K a second with like a snap on scanner 100,000K times per secon

I really just want to figure out what is going on with my engine without paying 60 some odd bucks every time i want a dianostic ran. And i really dont feel like spending 400 bucks on a handheld unit, im not really intrested in tuneing right now, so that really doesnt bother me, thanks for the input guys.

if you have an aldl port the easiest way pull codes from your car is to short the a and b terminal with a paperclip or small piece of wire and watch the ses light flases for stored trouble codes.
in this pic the a terminal is the top right and b the top left.

diagnosing isnt simple as pulling a computer code, you have to verify the code, for example a code like lean exhaust condition you than have to diagnose what is code 44 in our cars, a scanner or code reader is only a tool it can help you diagnose but very rarely is it a straight forward fix, only a simple code like a tps sensor code well if it wont adjust replace it.
but like alex said take a look at the code by shorting out pins a and b with a paper clip, it will flash 12 3 times, than the code

Thats the thing, Im not pulling any codes i have yet to get a "Check engine light" to come on. Also, as far as i know all my vacume lines have no leakes (no holes anywere) yet my car still is not running right, i need something like winadld so i can log what the ECM is reading through out the drive, I understand that it wont show what is wrong directly but i would still like to know is going on. Ive had a code reader on the car and it showed no codes as well (got access to a Auto hobby shop that has a code reader, hovever it is not able to run any dianostics
)
